The playable demo of Bioware’s feverishly anticipated Mass Effect 3 (which is essentially two demos in one) is now available for download on the Xbox 360, and is expected to launch on the Playstation 3 and PC a little later today. The single-player component can be played right now, but the multiplayer portion is only available to people who have previously purchased an Online Pass code for Battlefield 3 – or earned one by buying the game new. The multiplayer demo becomes available to all this Friday.

And don’t forget that when you pre-order your copy of the game at zavvi.com you’ll receive a code to download some free DLC…

The Argus is a high-powered rifle favored by senior C-Sec officers. An excellent close-range weapon, its bursts of fire ensure ammunition conservation during lengthy conflicts. Other law-enforcement agencies across the galaxy are adopting the Argus as their standard rifle, as much for its intimidation factor as its suppression power.

Mass Effect 3 recently placed very highly indeed on the list of our most anticipated games of 2012, which you can view in full by clicking here.

Mass Effect 3 is currently due for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on Friday March 9th 2012.
