Ubisoft: E3 2016

Ubisoft’s press conference at E3 this year was nothing short of a celebration. Turning 30 years young, Ubisoft’s announcements were enough to get the party well and truly started in LA. View the entire conference, hosted by fifth-time presenter Aisha Tyler, below:

Just Dance 2017 was the first title revealed, and in dramatic fashion – the game that needs no introduction had one of the night’s the best with an energetic dance troop performing to Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. This title was announced for all consoles including the Nintendo’s NX – this makes Just Dance 2017 one the first known titles for Nintendo’s secret console.

Ubisoft then turned their attention to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Widlands – showcasing an exclusive gameplay footage. The new release will feature the typical Ghost Recon tactical gameplay on new, diverse and large-scale maps. Based in Bolivia, Wildlands’ storyline consists of a highly trained team attempting to take down the thriving cocaine trade. Packed with a variety of vehicle features (including helicopters), this third-person shooter can be played as a multiplayer or in campaign mode. Wildlands is scheduled for release March 2017.

In a comedic turn, Jason Schroeder (senior producer at Ubisoft San Francisco) was joined on stage by the charismatic South Park co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. In interview, they discussed their new creation – South Park: The Fractured But Whole, a sequel to The Stick of Truth. The game, as you expected, looked every bit hilarious as it did action-packed. The game’s theme is superhero- based and it comes to market December 6th. Fancy a laugh? Watch below.

Virtual Reality was next to be showcased as Charles Huteau, creative director on Eagle Flight, was joined by Oculus Rift creator Palmer Luckey and Oculus VR’s Jason Rubin. They demonstrated the game’s version of multiplayer capture the flag – set in the nature-invaded streets of Paris.

Then came David Votypka who introduced Star Trek: Bridge Crew, lead by Red Storm Entertainment. The multiplayer VR experience was demonstrated by classic Star Trek cast members LeVar Burton and Jeri Ryan. Bridge Crew is due for release on all major VR systems this autumn. We can’t wait to try this one out.

More footage of third-person melee fighting game For Honor, and Watch Dogs 2 (coming 30 days earlier on PS4), also thrilled the crowds…

Steep was Ubisoft’s final new game revealed at E3 2016. Developed by Ubisoft Annecy, the game combines winter extreme sports set in mountains of Europe. With a unique approach to multiplayer, the game encourages to players to create beautiful replays – showcasing the best stunts before sharing them online.

No updates on a new Assassin’s Creed game, yet plenty of information on the upcoming film starring Michael Fassbender was confirmed. A Watch Dogs film was also revealed.
