The Golden Globes has long been a major part of the film industry’s awards season, recognising national and international films and television works. The formal ceremony and dinner is broadcast to more than 150 countries worldwide and generally ranks as the third most-watched awards show each year, behind the Oscars and the Grammy Awards.

Ricky Gervais is set to host the 67th Golden Globes Awards, flying the flag for the Brits. It’s rumoured that Christina Aguilera, Tom Hanks and Neil Patrick will join him on stage to present awards alongside previously announced presenters including Jennifer Aniston, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Mickey Rourke and Mel Gibson. Hollywood veterans Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio will present a special honour to Martin Scorsese.

Judging Panel:

Members of the Golden Globe Awards vote for up to five nominees in each award category (nominations were then announced on 15th December 2009). Once the nominations have been announced, a final ballot, listing the five final nominees, is mailed to the members requesting that each member select one nominee in each category and the final results are announced at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

British talent swept the Golden Globes in 2009 with Kate Winslet scooping up a pair of magnificent Globes for best actress and best supporting actress and British director Danny Boyle‘s film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ taking four awards, winning every category in which it was nominated including best picture. ‘The Wrestler’ was the second most lauded film, with two awards (Best Actor – Drama for Mickey Rourke and Best Song.
