Monsters should go back to school

The monsters from the Disney classic 'Monsters Inc.' return in a feature length animated prequel to the original. It begins with Mike (voiced by Billy Crystal) at college wishing to become a scarer but he knows that only the best scarers come from Monsters University. But during his first term, his plans are knocked sideways when he meets Sulley (John Goodman), a natural scarer from a long line of scarers. Mike has another problem - he isn't scary. The duos competitive rivalry gets them kicked off the course and they find that, along with a group of under-dog monsters, they must work together to graduate. I sat down to watch this with high hopes as I really enjoyed the original and it was nice to see Disney taking us back to how Mike and Sulley become friends. But for some reason, this film didn't make the grade for me. Yes I did laugh at some of the slapstick moments but I was left wanting more, which, for me, is an unusual occurrence when it comes to a Disney movie. Normally, I'm left with a smile and a satisfied feeling. It's still goes into my collection but sadly only because it's a sequel.

Pure awesomeness

Yet again another great sequel from the Pixar Studios. Monsters University is the pre-quel to Monster Inc, however it is also a fantastic standalone, full of laugh and stunning visuals for the whole family. A highly recommended watch.
