    Description

“Marcus Collins” is the self-titled debut studio album by the English singer/song writer Marcus Collins. Marcus has sky rocketed to fame since his appearance on the eighth series of the British television talent show The X Factor, in which he came second in the series final.

The album is comprised of both original songs as well as covers of well known favourites, including Collins' versions of “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher”, “Tightrope”, as well as “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes. Collins' rendition of “Seven Nation Army” is also the lead single for this album.

The mixture of covers and original recordings all amply show off Collins' distinctive and soulful voice, upon which he has put a contemporary twist, blending it with elements of pop to make himself more versatile. This versatility includes and ranges from Collins' incorporating falsetto within his singing, to even delving into more urban and grimy songs. Despite not placing first in The X Factor series final, “Marcus Collins” is an ample tribute to just how talented this singer truly is. (Cat Emerson)

I love this album. Track 4 Don't Surrender is playable over and over again. Just wish Marcus would leave out all the noises of "ugh" etc, that got me annoyed when he was on X Factor too. Realy with Reet Petit was on here instead of Mercy or Higher & Higher.

    Marcus Collins

I was expecting an amazing debut album from Marcus Collins, after his consistency on the X-Factor, but to be honest, it feels rushed. Some of the songs aren't too good. I am a big fan of his, and I would still encourage you to buy it, only down to the fact I think there's better material to come from him yet, but don't expect a masterpiece.
