"Someone To Watch Over Me" is the third album by the incredibly talented mezzo-soprano singer Susan Boyle, who shot to fame after appearing on Britain's Got Talent in 2009, where she placed as a runner up in the final. This album is the follow up to her 2010 release "The Gift", and makes it her third album in three years.
"Someone To Watch Over Me" is compiled of Boyle's brilliant renditions of big songs perfectly suited to her voice, but which also vastly contrast with one another. This is displayed with such songs as "Unchained Melody", originally released in 1955, compared with the 1980s song "Mad World", originally sang by the British new wave band Tears For Fears. However, surprisingly enough, somehow all of these songs fit well with Boyle's outstanding vocals.
The album is lead by the release of the singles "You Have To Be There", originally created for a popular Swedish musical, both written by former members of ABBA, as well as a cover of Depeche Mode's iconic track "Enjoy The Silence".
Despite the original controversy surrounding her, Susan Boyle is now recognised by everyone as both a talented and serious musical artist, and keeps knocking out hit after hit. "Someone To Watch Over Me" is no exception. (Cat Emerson)
