The Day The Earth Stood Still
A Spacecraft lands in Washington D.C. and an alien emerges, with a menacing robot whose destructive powers defy imagination. So begins the science-fiction thriller, The Day The Earth Stood Still, a classic 50's movie that would go onto inspire alien-invasion films for decades to come. The alien, Klaatu's (Michael Rennie) plea for peace is embraced by a pretty, young woman (Patricia Neal) and an eminent scientist (Sam Jaffe), but the rest of humanity reacts with mistrust, fear and violence. With time running out, Klaatu is forced to demonstrate his awesome powers, teaching all of mankind a lesson for the ages.
Fantastic Voyage
This science-fiction ''inner space'' thriller, one of the most amazing ever conceived, follows a crew of medical scientists (Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch, Edmond O'Brien, Donald Pleasance, Arthur O'Connell, William Redfield, Arthur Kennedy) on an incredible submarine journey through the human body and into the brain to perform a delicate repair operation. The team must combat the elements of the living body as well as a saboteur in their midst. But first they have to be miniaturised to microbe size for their fantastic adventure.
The Fly
A brilliant scientist becomes obsessed with perfecting a device that can transmit matter from one location to another. Successful in his initial tests, he experiments with a human guinea pig - himself. But an ordinary housefly makes the journey with him, and when they emerge, both creatures have been extraordinarily changed. This is the chilling story of a man fighting to retain his humanity, and a desperate woman's attempt to save the man she loves.
Journey To The Centre Of The Earth
The accent is on fun and fantasy in this film version of Jules Verne's classic thriller that stars James Mason, Pat Boone and Arlene Dahl. With spectacular visuals as a backdrop, the story focuses on an expedition led by Professor Lindenbrook (Mason) down into the Earth's dark core. Members of the group include the Professor's star student, Alec (Boone) and the widow (Dahl) of a colleague. Along the way lurk dangers such as sabotage by a rival explorer and attacks by giant prehistoric reptiles, but they also encounter such magnificent wonders as a glistening cavern of quartz crystals and the lost city of Atlantis.
Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea
A routine scientific expedition to the North Pole turns into a race to save all mankind when a radiation belt in space causes a fiery inferno on earth. Admiral Nelson (Walter Pidgeon) and the crew of the atomic submarine Seaview battle saboteurs, giant sea-creatures and attacks by enemy submarines as they race to prevent global catastrophe. Renowned disaster film producer Irwin Allen produces and directs an all-star cast including Joan Fontaine, Barbara Eden, Peter Lorre and Frankie Avalon. The stunning visual effects and breathtaking underwater photography make this one of the most respected sci-fi adventure classics of all time.
