A handful of British teens come to terms with their identities and their prejudices in this drama. Loris (Rikki Beadle Blair) teaches a class in drama and dance at a school in a working-class community, and a number of his students have had discipline or behavioral problems. Loris is openly gay, and he's dealing with a number of students who either are gay or lesbian, while others have shown homophobic tendencies. Loris tries to use his position to teach his students about understanding and accepting themselves and one another, while pondering the way we view sex and gender in our culture. The students also explore homophobic behavior that surrounds them, ranging from violence both threatened and real to the common use of phrases like 'that's so gay'. FIT was adapted by Rikki Beadle Blair from his play of the same name, which was originally written for teenagers as part of a workshop on youth and homophobia.
