Based on the short story by Richard Matheson, The Box stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child. One day they receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences.
A mysterious stranger (Frank Langella) delivers a message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world... Someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the crosshairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

very good film,,,lots of twists an turns.
This DVD is ace, Cameron Diaz makes it even better, she is such a great actress :-)
I read a few reviews before I decided to post my own and to be honest the consensus is mixed, and I can understand why some people struggle with this film, but for me its definitely worth watching, let me elaborate... The basic premise of this film is based on a moral dilemma, and in this case a box is left on the doorstep of a couple (Cameron Diaz & James Marsden) If they press the button on the box, they get $1 million dollars, but what's the catch? A total stranger somewhere will die. So what do you do? It doesn't take long before you realise the decision they have to make isn't so much black or white but lots of shades of grey. This is the tricky bit is, with so much going on there are several questions posed that don't get answered. The film is good, the story great & Diaz's part is acted fantastically, it's just those unanswered questions that will nark some people. Give it a chance, I did & really enjoyed it!
