The first in a trilogy of films based on the enduring masterpiece The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who - along with the Wizard Gandalf and 13 Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield - is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome Dragon Smaug. Their journey will take them into the Wild, through treacherous lands inhabited by Goblins, Orcs and deadly Wargs, as well as a mysterious and sinister figure known only as the Necromancer. Along the path, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even himself, he also gains possession of a "precious" ring tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways he cannot begin to imagine.

Terrific, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is really enjoyable, but then I always preferred this, the first story to "The Lord of The Rings", which was more of an "historical epic" in my opinion.

An excellent addition to the middle earth lore. The mottly crew of dwarf warriors is played excellently and bilbo nails it, I was suprised by the number of talking orcs, but that just adds to the experience. A very good 1st chapter in what will be another thrilling middle earth experience

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was just what I expected. It brought back memories of the original LotR films and that feeling you get when the film ends, the anticipation for the next one.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Includes UltraViolet Copy) is a classic book which has been converted into a fantastic movie adventure. It really does bring back the child in you with characters who each carry a special story to follow. I would recommend this film to any one who enjoys escaping the realism of life to share an epic adventure on the silver screen.
