Whisky Galore - Digitally Remastered (80 Years of Ealing)

This is a wonderful black and white film from Ealing Studio. Definitely worth the price.

Cheers! Sorry: slainte!

Whisky Galore is one of those films with the qualities of a fairy story. The basic scenario is unlikely, the characters are over the top and the plot revolves around a struggle between ordinary folk and the powerful - in this case it's the Customs and Excise. Its also as charming as any fairy story, often funny, and it masquerades as a moral tale while actually preaching subversion (although it has a half-hearted go at rectifying that in its final moments). There is some surprisingly good acting and the black-and-white print is excellent in this remastered version. Suspend your disbelief, pour yourself a dram o the good stuff and enjoy!
