Bowser has once again kidnapped Princess Peach, but this time, Mario has another objective. The Mushroom Kingdom is bursting with more gold coins than before. Each level is littered with gold as coins rain down from overhead pipes, trails of coins are left behind special gold enemies and gold pipes transport Mario into coin-filled caverns. It’s up to players to collect as many coins as possible throughout their adventure.

New Super Mario Bros 2 is very funny and has just the right level of challenge. It's not too easy like Super Mario 3D Land. There are lots of hidden shortcuts and the game is full of unlockable zones and levels to improve the game's duration. With 9 worlds to play (I still haven't finished it yet), this game guarantees hours to play. I don't like the half world bosses because they're basically always the same, and even if there's a lot of new stuff I think something is missing, so it jus misses out on 5 stars. The idea of coin collecting and coin rush mode is clever and it adds hours to the gameplay.
New Super Mario Bros 2 caters for all skill levels, whether you're a novice or a true gamer. It starts out as a deja vu feeling of all the other latest Mario games. You run, jump, shoot and find the hidden star coins which you will need to complete the game. It's so nice to see Tanookie Mario back, I've missed being able to fly but that's not all there is to it. I got to the end credits and found myself going back, with a need to find each and every star coin (even if I had resort to a little cheating). I'm a player that needs to rush through a platform game to see what's next and then backtrack to try to find every hidden item. Even if I do manage to find them all I can see myself going back for a third playthrough, I love the new gold Mario. Nintendo have delivered one of the best Mario games in a long time with Super Mario Bros2 for the 3DS i highly recomend this game and if you're stuck for a gift idea for an oldie, teen or anyone, new gamer or not, you can't go wrong with a Nintendo 3DS xl and the New Super Mario Bros 2 game
