Completely redesigning the internal design architecture, the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is reduced by more than half compared to the very first PS3 model with a 60GB HDD, and by 20 % and 25% respectively compared to the current PS3. By adopting a sliding disk cover, the new PS3 continues with the characteristic sleek curved simple body design, which fits various places in the home and enables users to enjoy an array of entertainment content.
With the extra HDD capacity which has been extended from 320GB and 160GB, users can store and enjoy more and more entertainment content including games, music, photos, and video on the new PS3. In addition, the new PS3 with 12GB flash memory offers opportunities to experience the world of PlayStation® at an affordable price point. Users can also expand the storage capacity of the new PS3 with 12GB flash memory by connecting a dedicated HDD (250GB) to be released concurrently with the new PS3.

PS3 new model
Zavvi was excellent in dealing with the delivery of the PS3: New Sony Playstation 3 Slim Console (500 GB) - Black. I have been a little disappointed with the new look of the 500GB PS3. The new machine has a sliding door at the top right to left to open, and is very flimsy and seems that no care was put into the design.
Playstation 3 500gb, wow what a great console, unlike the previous ps2 the ps3 uses hdmi connection or av depending on what your tv has. It doesn't come with a hdmi lead so you will need to purchase one however if you wish to connect via, av the ps3 comes with a av cable. The controller is more advanced and is wireless and added bonus. Ps3 comes with a controller, USB cable, av cable, power cable, definitely worth the proce and with free 3 selected games. 500gb storage will store your many games and downloads. If you like your football, fifa 13 is a must its a great game with great graphics.

Better than I expected
I kept reading that the latest PS3 felt flimsy and cheaply made. To me it seems well made and the famous sliding cover for the disc works nicely. Only real criticism is that (so far as I can tell) there is absolutely no indication of whether the PS3 has finished loading its software and is ready to use, or not. Why not just use an egg timer symbol like everybody else?
PS3 and Zavvi - an excellent pairing!
My original 60GB PS3 gave up after 5 years of usage, so this was a replacement. It is so much smaller...and quieter....than the old 'fax machine'. Large capacity drive is great too. I don't mind the new top-loading design, but whether or not it is sturdy enough to last for years remains to be seen. A really pleasant experience.

Better value for money and loads of space on the hard-drive but it is a little louder than my previous 2 ps3 consoles. Doesn't bother me that much but worth noting.
Small and powerful!
The PS3: New Sony Playstation 3 Slim Console is a fantastic product! It works really well with psp vita and is very fast, I can play great games watch great films and use the Internet. Everything packed into a small computer!

Playstation 3 500gb
I previously owned a Nintendo Wii. My new requirements were a gamer with a load of storage and good motion ability as I enjoy playing sport and fitness games. The Ps3 has a mass of storage and for an extra few pounds I bought the Move and Eye. The whole system is so easy to set up. There is so much you can do such as streaming movies, creating photos and music librarys, browsing the web. There is a large supply of games to try before you buy. Comes with catch up TV which is great and you can play dvd and blu ray discs. Fantastic entertainment all in one place for a very reasonable price.

Just gets better
I bought the new super Sony Playstation 3 Slim Console to replace my launch day 60gb Ps3 "fat one" which decided to get the yellow light of death!! The super slim if far superior to my old "fat one" in every way. More storage for a start, it's a lot quieter, less power hungry and massively more compact! Great service from Zavvi, I ordered during the Christmas holidays and it arrived three days later. Can't ask better than that.

This is the business - a serious piece of kit with a huge amount of Hard drive. Even with the price I was glad I forked out the extra rather than the 12GB version. Although its a christmas present I have had a sneaky go and since I am from the PS2 era I was simply blown away. Roll December 25th!!
