Description

Mario Party 9 is the eagerly awaited fifteenth installment in the Mario Party video game franchise, and the second to be made for the Wii. This addition to the saga boasts a bigger and better Mario Party than ever before, with a perfectly engineered blend of both co-operative and competitive gameplay guaranteeing fun with every challenge you face. Bowser and his minions have stolen all the Mini Stars from the sky, and it is your job to get them back! Defeat Bowser and collect the most Mini Stars as you explore the virtual boards and themed lands, take part in entertaining minigames and have the Mario Party of your life!

Mario Party 9 has been completely revamped and revolutionised to provide the most exciting gameplay yet, with seven playable boards and 80 minigames. Up to four players can play at one time, and Mario Party 9 has introduced a brand new way to travel round the boards in style: vehicles! From a swish car in Toad Road, to much wackier transport including a legged machine in Bob-omb Factory, and even a magic carpet in Boo's Horror Castle. Due to the vehicles, players take it turns to be the vehicle Captain, with each stage they play having unique Captain Events, introducing yet another opportunity for the tables to turn on whoever is in the lead. Each stage also ends with a fearsome Boss Battle, allowing co-operative play to conquer all as you all must work as a team to defeat the Boss; classic characters such as Bowser and King Boo make a terriffying appearance. Each stage also has multiple paths to work your way through to the end of the board, meaning that no two games you play will ever be the same.

The minigames have five confirmed categories to play, all designed for you to enjoy and gain Mini Stars and points from. The versatility of the minigames is shown in choosing from making pizzas, to racing snowmobiles, and even escaping from haunted mansions! There are also other modes to explore, such as Freeplay Mode and Car Extra Mode, which contain fun activities along the lines of Goomba Bowling, to the puzzle solving Castle Clearout. With each play, the player will earn special Party Points which can be spent to unlock special items and features throughout the game. Nintendo have outdone themselves with Mario Party 9, incorporating so many incredibly fun elements and activities that players will never be short of things to do! (Cat Emerson)

The party mode in Mario Party 9 is definitely improved when compared to Mario Party 8. The good thing about this game is that you don't know who is going to win at any point, until somebody actually does! The game play is a lot quicker, and everything takes a lot less time to complete that Mario Party 8. The mini-games are also drastically improved upon. To sum it up, everything has been improved nicely, whilst keeping the sense of frantic, fun competition. I highly recommend it for playing with family and friends.

Classic Mario Party with a few new twists!

First of I have to say that I paid full price for this game and was not dissapointed. In my opinion it was worth every penny. Having owned all the previous Mario Party games I was expecting great things from this latest release. I have found this game great fun so far the main change from the previous games being that all players are in one cart and subsequently take turns moving the cart around the board. The game requires good planning and the boards (7 in total) are great fun and very varied ranging from a beach level to a bomb factory, which all have different ideas and concepts providing great gameplay. Finally I simply have to mention the Boss Battles, they are so much fun! The player who made it to the Boss square will then pick one of three bosses which will be faced by all players. I believe Mario Party 9 reintroduces the Mario Party Series in an innovative and creative way. Greatly recommended for all and real family fun.

A GREAT PARTY

Mario Party is back for more fun games, with a wider range of characters to play as. I have been playing Mario Party since it was first on the N64 and GameCube to show that it has come this far shows how much fun it is to play. Getting your friends together and playing the different mini games is so much fun. Playing on the different courses and seeing so many different characters on the board is really amazing. Those that like to Party will enjoy Mario Party 9.
