New Super Mario Bros is the completely revitalised Super Mario Bros game that has been uniquely made for the Wii by Nintendo. This is the long awaited simultaneous multiplayer evolution of the beloved video game franchise, and now you can experience the vibrant and endlessly fun side scrolling world with both family and friends. Enjoy the fast paced adventures together, as you delve in to the universe of Super Mario Bros.

The adventure begins when Princess Peach is celebrating her birthday with her friends Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad in her castle, when an enormous cake is sent in. Bowser's children Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings jump out and throw the cake on to Princess Peach, trapping her inside! They then load the cake on Bowser's airship and take off, leaving Mario, Luigi, and the two Toads giving chase... but in vain. You and your friends can play as Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad, and must now travel through the vast nine worlds and the eighty eight levels within them in order to reach Bowser and rescue the Princess. Explore the world on your own or with up to three others, with this simultaneous multiplayer adventure incorporating both co-operative and competitive play; think making your Yoshi swallow an enemy, or maybe even another player. With the use of the Wii Remote controller, players can choose to either save each other from their doom or send them right to it with the new ability to pick each other up. The controller can also be used to tilt sea-saws and other objects to aid their character, or sabotage another player. Alongside this innovative use of the Wii controller, there are also brand spanking new in-game additions for Mario and his friends to use. This includes the Propeller Mushrooms which allow players to fly, the Ice Flower that give players the ability to freeze their enemies with snowballs, and the Penguin Suit which gives you the Ice Flowers ability, along with being able to slide on ground, water, and ice with finesse.

All of these additional abilities and features aid in making getting to the end of each level just that much more fun! In order to judge who came out on top, players are ranked on their overall score, the coins they've collected, and the enemies they have defeated. Within each level, there are three Star Coins that can be found, which can be spent on unlocking hint movies that show certain secret areas and items within the Mario world. Should all the Star Coins be collected in a world, a level in the top secret World 9 will be unlocked, but World 9 itself is unavailable until the main game itself has been completed.
