The polarizing game
FEAR 3 (or F.3.A.R.) is a polarizing game - the type that you'll either hate or love. The most important addition is co-op. You can play the entire campaign (of about 6 hours on Easy) as either Point Man, the protagonist of the first FEAR or as his brother, Paxton Fettel (who is a ghost). But these are not two similar characters, they are in fact very different. Point Man plays as your typical FPS grunt with an added slow-mo ability (a la Max Payne). Paxton, on the other hand, while in ghost mode will shoot balls of energy, levitate enemies or provide Point Man with a temporary shield. His special ability is to enter the body of almost any enemy, making him a very interesting character to play. Also, you gain points both in campaign and multiplayer for doing challenges (using certain weapons, getting all the level's collectibles, getting three headshots in one slow-mo session, etc.) which not only increase your level and offer you upgrades, but are also used to rank the two players. The one with the most points is the one who decides the ending! The story is not a work of genius, but it's good and the two main characters provide an interesting conflict, dancing to the tune of Alma's reality-shifting contractions as she gives birth to the third child. There are monsters and robot suits and crazy cultists, but there is not as much horror as in the first FEAR game; it's more of an FPS with horror touches than the other way around. Unfortunately, the other two games' stories are not explained, so newcomers will be puzzled by the narrative. Multiplayer (which can also be played splitscreen) is the thing that will captivate players the most. There are four game modes. Contractions is a horde-like mode where you and your partners need to survive waves of enemies while rebuilding your shelter and restocking on ammo. F***ing Run is going to keep your blood-pressure up: your team must outrun a wall of death while going through rows of enemies that stand in your way. Soul King is kind of a Team Deathmatch, but all four players start as Spectres who need to possess soldiers, kill each other, and collect souls. The one with the most souls wins. The last mode, Soul Survivor, is horde-like too, but one is randomly chosen to be a Spectre and must possess enemies and kill the other three, who need to hold out. The controls are solid and the graphics are acceptable, but not outdated. CONCLUSION: + campaign co-op + entertaining multiplayer - some may be dissatisfied with the story - ...and the graphics - ...and the lack of horror FEAR 3 is a good game, but not the best, though it depends how you see it, which is why I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

Good game, a little weirder than the the previous ones but still good. Quite interresting that you can hear the enemy soldiers pinpointing where are you. The story seems to end here tiying the story from the previous games
