Description
If you've been dreaming about paradise, we know a place where you can make those dreams come true--the Island of Banoi. Just off the coast of Papua New Guinea, located south of the Equator and just north of Australia. Until very recently much of the island was wild and primitive and totally untouched by the modern world. Even though the capital, Moresby, was founded by Australian settlers in 1895, many places deep in the interior still have never been seen by western eyes. As a guest of the Royal Palms Resort, the player's stay was supposed to be a dream holiday; a luxurious getaway to the beautiful beaches of a tropical paradise. But faced with the reality of a zombie apocalypse, there is only one thing left to do: Survive.
This is Dead Island... a paradise to die for...
Terror. Violence. Madness. Bedlam. A holiday paradise gone mad. A tropical island turns into total chaos after a mysterious zombie outbreak. Cut off from the rest of the world, the player’s only chance to survive is to fight to the death and find a way to escape from the island. Dead Island combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to 4 players in co-op mode.
Set in an open world tropical island, hordes of different festering zombies await players around every corner while they embark on a variety of thrilling missions through the holiday resort. With firearms and ammunition being scarce the player must rely on utilising found items as weapons for self-defence and fight off zombie hordes in intense melee combat. A diverse range of items can be collected and will later serve to transform the player’s ordinary makeshift weapons into serious instruments of destruction. In addition to satisfying even the most bloodthirsty action fan’s fantasy, Dead Island also features role-playing elements which allow the player to develop one of the game’s unique character classes according to their preferences, all the while learning new skills and fresh tactics during their journey through the perilous environments of the island. What’s more, anytime during a game up to four players can seamlessly join together and experience the intense combat and immersive story with cooperative gameplay.
With the all-new Chrome Engine 5 powering Dead Island, the game will use the latest installment of Techland’s acclaimed proprietary game engine, allowing the player to experience the tropical island paradise in graphical splendour with diverse environments like lush forests and detailed city environments.

Worth every penny..
I have been wanting Dead Island for a while, but unsure if I should get it due to being such a big fan of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and I didn't want to be disappointed...and oh how I was not disappointed. The game is so different to others, its more of a survival but it has RPG elements so you have the freedom to do side missions whenever you wish. Good graphics, great storyline and awesome game play, especially the one on one fighting. Everytime a zombie appears from nowhere it does give you a shock (something the latest RE did not manage to do). Only problem is the impact engine. There are a lot of times where you find yourself stuck in some trees you weren't supposed to go in, or zombies appear through doors. That's the one aspect which grinds on you after a while. Apart from that, solid game and would recommend it to anyone that wants a challenge (or even if you just enjoy a good horror).

A beautiful journey between rotten humans!
Dead Island is yet another zombie game... but if they are all done like that, I say Yes! An entire island full of zombies, that we'll have to kill to unveil the mysteries of that place. A mix between Dead Rising and Far Cry, Dead Island is a good choice for every action lover! First person dismembering action, in a fully detailed island. Dozens of weapons, thousands of brainssss!

Dead Island is a huge game where upon you can stick to the main story or branch off on various mini quests. The overall plot is well written and the characters offer additional depth. The zombies hordes vary and can be challenging to overcome. There are a few glitches in the gameplay which can allow you to make life easy for yourself. But where's the fun in that!! Overall, I found this game to be easy to pick up and difficult to put down. Certainly one for the survivalist horror fans!!

This game exceeded all of my high expectations! I was really looking forward to playing it and I'm still half way through the story (which doesn't normally happen)! I would recommend everybody who enjoys free roam games to buy Dead Island, as there are almost no limits as to what you can do. There are numerous side quests where you can build your characters level and skills up aswell as find some expensive items or high-damage weaponry. Great game!

I never played PS3 before this game arrived. I was browsing the web and watched some gameplay trailers and it got my attention. My parents had an unused PS3 so I just had to take it home with me and get Dead Island playing. This game is for hardcore zombie fans that like to slash, chop, slice, kick, ram their way out of trouble. Interesting difficulty gameplay, great choice of weapons and skills, nice option to drive some vehicles and super sharp graphics. I think it's the best game in it's genre. Above all it's just a great game to play in co-op mode with your friends. If you need to chill after a hard day at work or school this is the right game to buy.

This "Zombie" game is an excellent game! It's not like other zombie games, you have more freedom in this game. You can explore, collect, and discover new items and unlock new weapons. The weapons in this game are so realistic, it's amazing how the developers have putt together these weapons. It's amazing because they've added extra features like combining spikes with a baseball bat for example. And the graphics are just amazing! I'd love to get this wonderful game! There are different modes, single player, Co-op, and Online multi-player. Online Multi-player is very good in this game, you can play with your friends and explore together. It going to be a very fun game to play! Playing with other player is very good, so you can earn XP together, discover new places, search and kill zombies! This game is just phenomenal!
