Thrill ride of scares

Dead Space 2 really is a thrill ride of scares. Having completed the first Dead Space on the Xbox 360 I was eager to get my teeth into Dead Space 2 on Playstation 3 after changing systems and it has not left me disappointed. The game improves on the original in all areas, building on the story, improving the gameplay mechanics and developing more enhanced gameplay with a better variety of enemies, there are now additional tactics rather than just decapitating limbs. This is an excellent game and it is a must have for any survival horror fan.

No one will hear you scream

Dead Space shocked me with it's space oriented horror. Mysterious Necromorphs and a deserted space ship caught my interest. Empty halls, echoed screams and growls make a good combination. DS2 promised to bring a lot of the same and more. It came, was seen and I'm not entirely sure did it bring it. New environment gives more mobility and places to discover, you can e.g shoot glassed windows that'll suck the Necro's into oblivion. The game technology has also changed a bit, Isaac can now stomp continuously, reload while running and he has rocket boots to use in zero gravity. The story is not as entertaining as in the first one and couldn't keep me in it's grip. It has a kind of slow start but gets interesting after few chapters. Definitely a huge plus is the fact that it's more difficult than the first one. The first Dead Space was easy on Hard, in DS2, you need to pay attention to what you're doing. Maybe this was caused because I was trophy hunting but still it feels more difficult. The only thing that really bothers me is the darkness, you can't see anything in some parts because it's so damn dark. It's there to create anxious feelings and get you scared but me it annoyed. DS2 is a good game even though it doesn't deliver as much enjoyment as the first one. Good mobility, variety of guns and the atmosphere makes it worth the money. It even has multiplayer now, which is kind of like left4dead or alien vs predator. It's fun but nothing new. All in all, if you enjoyed the first one you have to get this one too!

Great sequel to a great game

The first Dead Space caught many of us by surprise. No one thought the survival horror genre had much more to give since the Resident Evil saga went the action route and Silent Hill simply lost its mojo. Dead Space lift the genre with great gameplay, great story and superb graphics. Now comes the sequel. The story of Dead Space has its lore and Dead Space 2 expands that lore. This time the characters are more developed. Isaac, the protagonist, isnt the silent character he was in the first game. Now he has to battle his own mind while fighting the variety of enemies the game throws at you. The gameplay variety is still great with guns, stasis and kinesis that gives you a variety of ways to repel your enemies. There are also puzzles to solve, misteries to unravel, scary moments and a great story to be told. Dont waste any more time and simply buy this game. You wont regret your purchase.
