From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection offers a handful of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past in true HD for the first time ever. Featuring three complete games, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the HD Collection offers old and new fans a chance to experience the epic game play, design and storytelling of the MGS franchise.
The "Metal Gear Solid (MGS)" series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan's master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. The series has become a global phenomenon, with over 27 million copies sold worldwide. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo sneaking missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Stories tell of a legendary solider who once waged war against the world. His name was Naked Snake, a.k.a. Big Boss, and the truth behind this legend will finally be told. The era is the 1970's . Big Boss had stationed his soldiers in Colombia, South America, where he was approached by visitors from Costa Rica, a "nation without a military." In the shadow of the Cuban Missile Crisis, as Latin America became a key to maintaining the power balance between East and West, Costa Rica had miraculously managed to maintain its peace and neutrality. However, in various regions of the country, a mysterious armed force seemed to be engaging in suspicious activities. Now, to preserve peace in this nation without a military, the soldiers move into action. In time, they would be known as the founders of "Outer Heaven."
Metal Gear Solid: 2

After the Shadow Moses incident, technological data on the nuclear-armed walking tank Metal Gear leaks onto the black market. Solid Snake and his allies form the anti-Metal Gear NGO "Philanthropy" and set out in pursuit of a tanker carrying a new Metal Gear prototype. But Snake falls into a trap set by former FOXHOUND member Ocelot, and is believed lost along with the tanker at the bottom of the Hudson River. Two years later, the Big Shell, an oil spill cleanup facility constructed on the bay, is taken over by terrorists led by a man claiming to be the long-lost Solid Snake. The government sends Raiden, a new recruit in the new FOXHOUND, to infiltrate the Big Shell and rescue the US President, who is held hostage inside... The underlying theme of this second entry in the series is "memes," or cultural genes.
Metal Gear Solid: 3

The story shifts back in time to 1964, the height of the Cold War. Naked Snake-the man who would later become the legendary mercenary known as Big Boss-heads into Soviet territory to help the scientist Sokolov defect to the West. But the mission ends in failure due to the betrayal of Snake's mentor and mission advisor The Boss, a female soldier known as "the Mother of Special Forces." The Boss defects to the Soviet Union, taking a miniature nuclear warhead with her as a gift, which her new hosts promptly launch at a Russian research facility. Naked Snake heads once more into the Soviet Union on a mission to kill The Boss... The third MGS game tells the story of men and women who struggle to remain loyal even while their fates are at the mercy of the ever changing political "scene."

Despite its age, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection still does stealth excellently, There are very few games that come close to what MGS lives upto and couples it with some of the maddest storytelling ever pressed to disc. I would say without a doubt that this is still one of the best franchise' to date A must for any MGS fans!

Metal.. Gear?
When I ordered this collection I was in a dilemma whether it was worth the money or not. I've always loved the Metal Gear series, and this seemed to be the next step. So I took it. And didn't regret it at all. The collection includes a steelbook case for the game, which arrived in perfect condition, along with the book and the tshirt, all of which were in perfect condition, contained within a limited edition box. If you love Metal Gear, or any of the games included within this collection, I would highly recommend buying it. Its worth it's weight in gold to me.

3 Classics in one
Being a massive metal gear solid fan and having played them all when they first came out it was great to re-live them all. The graphics have been touched up and look fantastic, mgs3 is the best looking and looks like it is a brand new game released now. Having played Peace Walker on the PSP it was so much more improved with the controls being able to use the dual analog sticks which made it easier to play and less clunky as it was on the PSP. MGS2 looks slightly prettier but not huge changes. Its enough of a graphical upgrade to notice little things I never noticed on the PS2. The limited edition is a nice touch if your a collector and the art book has some amazing work in it, a recommendation to any MGS fan!

Beautiful Collector's Piece
First off, the games are amazing. Cutting edge storytelling, that still comes across as fresh and unique. Reviewed positively, held in high regards and winning a true cult status and place in gaming's history books. The HD polish is actually pretty damn good. I use a 40 inch, full 1080p samsung tv and I have to say that graphically, they really stand-up even to some of THIS generation's games. The smoooooothness of the 60hz rate is really something on a nice big TV too. Colours are vivid, and the sound, a huge part of any MGS title, is beautifully crisp. This exclusive edition comes with all the extras listed, *The 250 page Artbook, this really is an excellent cross section of MGS history, development and design. A beautiful item for anyone who can appreciate an artists talents, but those who are MGS fans already will be chuffing delighted. The presentation style is true to the series, and absolutely crammed with artwork, I've been a fan of MGS for a number of years, played the original on the PS1 and there was a lot in here that I had not seen anywhere else before now. I know Ill be keeping mine safe. *The Steelbook, which is NOT just a tin box with a sticker on it - as incorrectly stated elsewhere online, the finish is perfect, bright and of course, unique. *The games themselves, all on one disc, mgs 2, 3, PW, and two MGS MSX classics. The extras included on the disc also include metal gear online co-op, stand alone VR training and snake tales plus much, much more - suggest you check somewhere like ign.com, gametrailers.com or cvg.com for examples of MGS HD game reviews. *The T Shirt, a beautiful and well made, limited edition design t shirt, EXCLUSIVELY MADE FOR THIS HD edition. *Presentation Box, with the "Warhol" treatment, a gorgeous piece of art, more than just a box. LOL ;) This box-set's presentation, T shirt, polish, story-lines, extras, everything about it just oozes of the quality that people who know what they're talking about have come to expect from anything that series creator, Hideo Kojima stamps his name one. The price has been criticised, most likely by those who haven't bought it, which is a shame, as it is a fair price imo for a LIMITED EDITION. This will only retain or increase in value, and fast too, if kept safe. Break the package down, and consider, you get: A book easily worth £20+, The games, which retail new for £30 a Branded, limited high quality T Shirt that would easily cost £25 in a video game or memorabilia shop Thats £75, the boxset currently retails at £69.99, give time for a few of them to get marked with jelly fingers, lost, wrecked or whatever and you'll see the resale price rise in no time. In the meantime however, you'll have a great selection of MGS limited items to enjoy and keep. 5/5...Worth every penny.

MGS HD Collection
Firstly, I would just like to thank Zavvi for responding to the poor packaging issue with these limited editions. I recieved mine in perfect condition. I pressume though who are interested in this Item are already Metal Gear fans, so you may have already played MGS2 & MGS3. So I will not talk about them games other than the conversions. Firstly I'll talk about MGS3, the first game I played. First thing to note is that these games are in widescreen. How MGS3 and MGS2 were not in widescreen at first baffles me. Another thing to note is the frame rate is now in 60 fps for all games, so the cutscenes are no longer choppy. I also found the loading time for the start menu to be quicker so changing camos never felt as tedious. Overall I feel this HD edition has made the game far more playable. I had Peace Walker on the PSP, but I just could not play it, the controls on the PSP were horrid. With the PS3's second analogue stick, the controls are an issue of the past. While the graphics arent as good as 2 or 3 considering it is a PSP it still looks amazing. I am currently playing through the game with a friend on Co-op and it has been really fun. If this HD collection should be remembered for anything it should be that it made Peace Walker playable. I haven't played much of MGS2 yet, only they VR Missions, but it seems to be just as good as the MGS3 conversion. The Limited Edition comes with an hardback artbook with roughly 200 pages, which is lovely to have. The steelbook is good, but beware the 360 version is just a steelbook with stickers on it. I haven't touched the T-shirt as I pressume it'll be too big for me. I havent bought many HD Collections as my PS3 can play PS2 games, but I feel this Collection really improved the quality of the the 3 games to the point where I doubt I'd want to play the previous releases. I highly recommend this to any fan of the series, If you have not played the series before get the normal edition and buy Metal Gear Solid 1 of the Playstation Store and MGS4 for the PS3 and your all set.

MGS HD
Huge fan of the original and i was blown away by the remake. Just couldnt contain my excitement when opening the collectors edition, it is a total must have for any fan. the graphics are just stunning, if Hideo Kojima has a flaw is that he is always demanding perfection but that is arguably what made this collection one of the better collections to own. Everything has been revamped from graphics to controls. It felt like i was playing for the first time again. Along with trophy support for PS3 and Achievments for 360 just adds to the replay value of the collection overall. Limited or regular edition a must have for any hardcore to normal gamers out there. Easy 5 stars.

MGS HD Collection
If you are a MGS fan then this is definitely on your list but if your not then why not jump in and find out what all the fuss is about with this beautiful revamp of Classic Metal Gear titles. The T shirt is nice with a cool print of snake and the art book is just awesome. My only downside is the lack of MGS1 which would of made this collection feel more complete but still. MGS2 MGS3 and the latest entry PW on 1 disk. 10/10 MUST BUY FAN OR NO FAN.

A "bigger" hd collection review
So as you know the HD collection comes in a pretty large decorative box very well designed and laid out. Inside the box you get your artbook by Yoji Shinkawa of 250 pages of concept art from each game, mgs 2, mgs 3, and peacewalker. The book is about A4 size i'd say and it comes in a kind of hardback cover book really quite high quality stuff, not to mention the artwork which is spectacular! really sketchy stuff, in depth character development with notes (which helps if you can read japanese) and really highly detailed drawings that were translated to be used ingame. Then we have the t-shirt which are all sized medium which is pretty standard size that will work best for most people which also has a high quality print and a really quite nice fine material of shirt which also has metal gear solid as the label which isnt a big thing but it's a nice little touch. The steelbook case is really just another case to put your game in. It's really well designed and looks very visually appealing however it's just a case, i know there was alot of debates about this. Then onto the big one the acual game, as you know it features metal gear solid 2, metal gear solid 3, and peacewalker peacewalker features a new thing developed by Hideo Kojima called "Transfarring" which essentially is the ability to load your save from your PSP to your PS3 and vice versa so you can be playing portably then settle down to your console and then even go portable again. The big question most are asking is... Is there a difference between These and the previous games? well for one we have all of these 3 games on one disc.. How they done it? i dont know because these games are MASSIVE. Graphical wise it is a slight difference i do rekon things look neater and a little more polished even if it isnt a huge amount. However it is all orginal material and what i mean by that is the music is the same so it's the same composers, Harry Gregson William's and im afraid i dont know the composer or composers of peacewalker. Metal gear solid 2 does have the special missions, and snake tales that were with the substance version. And Metal gear solid 3 has all the bonus content except from MGO which is still up and running on Mgs 4. However the online aspect is all peacewalker, as it has co-operative onlineplay and some kind of versus mode that i've not had a chance to play due to difficulties in finding a game. So the bottom line of this review is that it's a MUST for big Mgs fans i mean this year will be the 4th time i'll have bought Mgs3 and also it's been the 3rd time i've bought mgs 2. It does feel much nicer to have it all in one disc with a well made menu to swap from each game and playing it on the PS3 or XBOX360. The game franchise is a fantastic and for 69.99 for 3 games, a 250page artbook and a t-shirt is awesome! not to mention the monilithic amount of content. It's essentially Metal gear solid substance, subsistence and peacewalker. I rekon for a Metal Gear Solid fan its a Must buy!

Hd collection review
So hey i thought i'd do a little review on the hd collection since i was emailed about it by zavvi so here goes. MGS HD Collection
Having already played MGS2 and MGS3 I can confidently say they are among the best games I have ever played. To make things better, these are the 'deluxe' editions of 2 and 3, meaning that MGS2 comes with 500 bonus missions and MGS3 comes with ports of the original two Metal Gear games for the MSX2. I've not played Peace Walker yet, so I cannot comment on that. The Limited Edition packaging is fantastic and the art book is superb. If you're a fan of the series, you should already know if you want this (clue: you do), if you're a newcomer, then you should certainly download MGS1 off the PS Store first, as it'll definitely help with the story.

I was so exited to receive this after pre-ordering. The item itself was wonderful - everything I expected when I bought it. Gorgeous artbook and nice metal case to store the game in. The t-shirt is somewhat too large for me, but that's not a big deal. Shipping was prompt, however the box that the items came in was somewhat damaged in the post despite all of the padding included in the parcel, which was disappointing. Overall however, I'm very pleased with this item.

Excellent Package, the Book is really well made, sweet t-shirt and the Games are rather fantastic too. One of the best HD collections available currently and if you missed them the first time round you are in for a treat - a couple of the most seminal games released in the past few decades and have barely aged. Highly recommended.

The re-release we needed
I'm not sure to begin. Not only is the amount of content you get in this package immense, but the sheer quality of it is undescribable. Beginning with the games themselves, they've all been given a sparkly HD treatment. But looks aren't all. As much as the gameplay was amazing before, it had its flaws. That is, judging from a modern standpoint. But that's no longer the case. The controls have all been refined. Especially Peace Walker. Which was pretty much given a drastic overhaul to fit a regular control scheme. And the outcome is fantastic. The artbook you get in this package is incredible. There's 250 ish pages of drawings covering the Metal Gear timeline since its conception. The T-shirt is made of durable fabric, and the printing looks like it can withstand a few hundred runs through the washer before fading. Then there's the steelbook case, which you get along with the regular case. It's pretty much just a regular steelbook albeit with a really cool MGS makeover. All in all, the price is just right for this pack. For the quality of the games, I'm surprised it isn't more. -Three of the best games ever made -A large and detailed artbook. -Quality T-shirt -Steelbook Not only is this a re-release you don't wanna miss, but a limited edition you don't wanna skip out on.

This has to be by far the best limited edition game to date. The collection is put together nicely, the art book is fantastic. The t-shirt is a definite collectable for the MGS fan. Getting to the actually games themselves, Hideo Kojima have surpassed them selves. The HD up scale makes the game even more fantastic the second time around. This has to bes the best £69.99 I've spent on a computer game this year...

I bought this last week and it has arrived today. fantastic quality steel box cover and the book is brilliant. The Tshirt is a small size which won't fit me but might be worth hanging up. As a side note in the package they had given me a copy of metal gear solid 4? I don't see it mentioned in the description but was a welcome addition.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Ever since I heard about this collection coming out, I was very excited & could not wait to get my hands on it. I'm still waiting because I live in the UK but it's just a week away until I can finally play these amazing games once again, now in glorious HD with trophy support which I am very happy with as I'm a big trophy hunter. Wish the original or Twin Snakes was included in the collection as I've never played TS before, but I have the original MGS via PSN. But I am happy with Peace Walker as I've never played it either so it will be a new experience for me. I played MGS2 & MGS3 non stop back in the day & I still do When I want a bit of stealth action with brilliant stories to follow as well. At last, these are now back in HD, the way they should be, with all the bonuses from Substance & Subsistance including the 2 classic NES games. All I can say about MGS is that to me, it's one of the best franchises out there & still is. With amazing story telling, gorgeous graphics, superb voice acting, brilliant game play & hours upon hours of fun. Even more hours now that it has trophies to collect. I think that this will be the best HD collection out there & I highly recommend that you add this to your game collection. I've pre-ordered my limited edition & again, I highly recommend that you do too, you'll be very disappointed if you don't. 11/10

Super
Since Metal Gear Solid first raised it's head i became an instant fan. All the games are superb, the visuals get better and better. The story line can sometimes give you a slight headache, as there is so much to take in. It'a a shame to see the trilogy come to an end, but all good things must come to an end. Now three titles are available in glorious HD. I personally can't wait to give the old classic a run through. Haven't played MGS before give it a go, you won't be disappointed. As for MGS die hard fans, it will be like slipping on a old pair of new shiny shoes..
