    Description

Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection brings you this exclusive box set that contains three of the most popular games from the Metal Gear Solid legacy; one of the most important game series of all time, all in perfectly remastered HD quality. These three games are Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, allowing you to experience the games from past to present. An extra special part of this box set is that for the first time ever, Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker is available on a console other than the PSP.

This incredible game series is the work of the renowned director and game creator Hideo Kojima, who is a figurehead for pioneering the stealth action genre in games. The Metal Gear Solid saga is noted for the innovative storyline and game play, with the protagonist being an elite secret agent from a special forces unit, who you must guide through enemy territory during tense solo missions. Explore vast terrain and enemy base camps, hone your skills to sneak past the enemy undetected, alone and without any support from your comrades, whilst your life is constantly on the line.

    Metal Gear Solid: 2

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty was originally released in 2001 for the Playstation 2. The game is set two years after the events of Shadow Moses, with Solid Snake and Octacon as part of Philanthropy; an anti-metal gear non-governmental organisation that they founded. They receive word that incredibly sensitive technological information has been leaked on to the black market regarding the walking nuclear-armed Metal Gear unit, and that a prototype is being transported through the Hudson River. However, this is a trap set by high-tech Special Forces Unit FOXHOUND (the US Army's elite black ops unit that was established by Big Boss) member Ocelot and his Russian mercenaries, who seize the tanker. The plan goes awry, and the tanker sinks to the bottom of the Hudson River, and Solid Snake is believed to have gone down with it. Two years later and The Big Shell, an oil clean up facility set up on the bay of the river, has been taken over by a terrorist group calling themselves the Sons Of Liberty, with their leader claiming to be Solid Snake. Raiden, a new FOXHOUND recruit, is sent to infiltrate the Big Shell and neutralise the threat, yet it becomes clear he has fallen into an incredibly well spun web of deception.

    Metal Gear Solid: 3

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was originally released in 2005 for the Playstation 2. The game is set in 1964 in the midst of the Cold War. Special agent Naked Snake is sent to Soviet territory on a mission to help a scientist, Sokolov, switch sides to the West. The mission is sabotaged by The Boss, a female soldier otherwise known as the Mother Of Special Forces, who is America's greatest agent and Snake's mentor. The Boss betrays her country when she defects to the Soviet Union, giving them a miniature nuclear warhead which they then launch at a Russian research facility. Meanwhile, an extremist by the name of Colonel Volgin launches an American made missile at the Soviet design bureau, causing an international incident that seems to be leading in to the third World War. In order for America to prove her innocence, Naked Snake is assigned a mission by special forces unit FOX... the mission being to assassinate The Boss.

    Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker was originally released in 2010 for the PSP, revolutionising hand held gaming. This game tells the tale of a legendary soldier called Naked Snake, a.k.a. Big Boss, during the 1970s, and the truth behind his story in signature third person game play. The game begins after the events that occurred during Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It's 1974, and Snake has killed his treacherous mentor the Boss, left the United States, and founded Militaires Sans Frontieres (soldiers without borders), which takes on the cases and missions of those who need their help. A certain case finds its way to Big Boss showing that the CIA have invaded Costa Rica, a country without a military to defend them, and that his mentor the Boss may still be alive. Needless to say he takes the case, in order to both stop a Metal Gear from launching nuclear missiles and devastating the world, as well as answer all the questions raised in the aftermath of Snake Eater. As always, your stealth is your greatest weapon. (Cat Emerson)

    Masterpiece!

If you liked snake's games when they first came out several years ago you will find this collection amazing! The conversion to HD resolution gives new life to the episodes and makes them enjoyable with the high resolution tvs; even if the graphic is not as rich as the next gen videogames, the impact and the definition are brilliant and still astonishing! If you already played the entire series this will be worth the price, but if you lost any of these when they first came out, it is absolutely to buy!

    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

Having never bought a game like Metal Gear Solid, I thought I'd give this one a bash, and I must say, having only played the first one for a while, this is excellent, and I would definitely recommend it.

    Flawless!

I've been a long-time fan of the Metal Gear Solid series for quite some time now. This collection is outstanding! you're getting 2 classics, along with an excellent re-mastered PSP game. all 3 games would definitely justify the price tag. Graphics look better than ever! Each game takes a while to complete so you can be assured that you're getting your money’s worth! I would gladly recommend this to anyone who's a fan of the MGS series or even newcomers! Gameplay hasn't changed and which is a good thing! If it isn’t broke, don't fix it. And also to mention, the substance version of MGS2 and subsistence version of MGS3 are included in this collection instead of the regular versions! an essential collection to own!

Collection contains 3 games(MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker) running in 720p/60fps. Ports are very good and online is working correctly. Must buy for all PlayStation 3 owners.

    A good collection

Maybe the best classic HD collection. The only flaw of this collection is not to have the first Metal Gear Solid.

    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

There's not too much that remains to be said about the Metal Gear Solid series. They're some of the most immersive and enjoyable games of all time, and these HD remasters do Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 proud. The art-style of 2 and still-stunning graphics of 3 look outstanding now they've been up-scaled to HD. The textures in Peace Walker are less impressive, but at the end of the day, it's a hand-held game, and still very playable. These versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 are the "Substance" and "Subsistence" versions which contain loads of bonuses, including separate Snake Tales missions, "Virtual Reality Training" versions of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 and loads more. Basically, if you're into stealth and action games, and haven't played any Metal Gear Solid games up to now, picking this up is a no-brainer. If you're a Metal Gear Solid fan though, these games are the definitive versions, and you can't miss out on them! Either way, this is a definite must-have, and it comes at a bargain price for hours of great entertainment. Highly recommended.

    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is a compilation of 3 beautiful games from a very well-known series. I can say many positive words about this game, but I will only say this - at some point, everyone must play this game.

    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is excellent! With the previous system (PS2) connected to a HDTV I had trouble with pixels and colours (due to the low resolution). With this collection the graphics and colour are excellent and you can play the games with a totally different experience. Also for the first time in PS3, Peace Walker is now playable to continue the Metal Gear Saga. An absolute diamond for your collection!

    Snake is back!

The Metal Gear Solid series has always been praised for it's immersive storyline, gameplay, blockbuster soundtrack and gameplay. The replayability of each game in this HD collection will keep you playing for months! The single player has lots of hours to keep you playing, and after you finish the single play there's tons of stuff to do. This is one of the best collections out there.

The Metal Gear Solid saga in shiny new HD pants!

I have to say what a pleasure it is being given the chance to relive some of my favourite moments in gaming, from one of the most cherished franchises in gaming. Of course, being a fan, I have played all but one of the games before. I never owned a PSP so never got to savour Peace Walker. The other two I play regularly on my trusty PS2. However, not like this. The update to HD has done wonders for these titles. Yes, it is only an up-conversion as opposed to a full re-texture or rebuild, but the difference for someone playing on a modern HD display is something that cannot be overstated. Not only is everything sharper, but the games are now presented in full 16:9 widescreen. This is not achieved by stretching or cutting the top and bottom, but by actually giving us a genuine widescreen frame, so there are things on screen we don't see when playing the old versions. With a franchise as cinematic as Metal Gear Solid, it is true now more than ever that Hideo Kojima has been attempting to marry the worlds of video gaming and cinema. For me, he has done so with aplomb. The three games have also been mastered in full surround sound, so those with home cinema systems will be able to make the experience even more cinematic. It is good to confirm that Metal Gear Solid 3 does use the updated, fully controllable 3rd person camera view from the special edition ‘Subsistence’, and this greatly improves an already brilliant game. It is my favourite title of the saga, so this was potentially a deal breaker for me. I’m glad to say they made a wise choice. If [for some bizarre reason] a player prefers to play with the antiquated camera from the original ‘Snake Eater’, this can be achieved with a single click. Metal Gear Solid 2 plays as it ever did, which for me is great because if it isn’t broke, you don’t fix it. Peace Walker plays differently of course, owing to the controls being adapted for the PS3 pad. By most accounts this has improved the game, as we now have a second analogue stick to control the camera, which makes for a more modern feel, or so I’m told. Bar the omissions of Metal Gear Online, the Duel Mode and Snake vs Monkey mode from Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence, along with the skateboarding game from MGS2 Substance, we have been provided with the best of the extra features from those two special edition releases. So that means we get the original two 'Metal Gear' titles from Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence, that were previously only available on the Japanese MSX home computer system, and we get the 'Alternative Missions', 'VR Missions', and 'Snake Tales' from Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance. Enough Metal Gear for even the most diehard fans, I’m sure you will agree. In all, this is an unmissable release for fans of the series, and also for those who came to the series as late as Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PS3. For those people, seeing the technical evolution of the series should be very interesting indeed. I’d even advise gamers who have never played a Metal Gear Solid title to take a punt. At this price you can hardly go wrong. I’d also like to say to Xbox gamers: Welcome on board! The more the merrier!

    Brilliant!

All games have been remastered to 720p HD. As a fan of the series, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is brilliant! I absolutely adore this set! Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and from the PlayStation Portable (PSP), Peace Walker, have all been remastered and upscaled to accommodate today's Television Sets and Video Game Systems to enjoy them in their full glory. I highly recommend this to any MGS fan and maybe those who are new to the series, it's really that good!
