Rocksmith

After playing this game at my brothers I decided to get it myself, it certainly advances your guitar playing rapidly. You know when you're getting good when you have a double encore! Top buy for me, was on offer too so wasn't too expensive

Rocksmithhero

I bought Rocksmith because I new what I going get. In fact it is the best guitar game on current-gen, nothing like guitar hero, its a guitar game, this is necessary. Everyone who wants to hear a new sound must buy this. Songs in game are pretty lame though.

A good game to learn how to play songs

The first game you can play with a real guitar ! This game is quite entertaining for beginners but i won't advise it to first timers. You need to have some basic knowledge because not everything is explained about your guitar, how to hold it etc... You can find everything in youtube but it's strongly advised to have someone explain the basic stuff to you. The game allows you to play better and you learn playing by a fun way : listening and playing to your favorite songs. You'll learn some tips and technics and will get used to play the guitar. You've got a score that is binded to your account, and he'll represents your progresses and will make the game harder and harder when you become better to match your skill level. There are 40 songs with the game (nice songs), and you can buy some in the store, but it's quite expensive.

Learn to play the guitar, while playing a video game

If you bought a guitar recently that's just collecting dust because you don't know how to play it, then this video game is for you. Rocksmith is a lot like Guitar Hero or Rock Band games, except you learn how to play the guitar in the process. That being said I don't think Rocksmith will be interesting for experienced guitar players but for beginners it's a blast! So if you've always wanted to learn to play the guitar, but never wanted to pay for expensive guitar lessons, then this game is a cheaper alternative.

Great fun for all, if you set it up right.

I bought Rocksmith with little prior knowledge of the game. All I knew was that I could plug my little-used electric guitar in to my ps3 and play a music game. At first I was a little disappointed. Pay attention to the recommended setup picture in the intro screens. If all you have is HDMI-out to your tv for picture and sounds, you will find the lag between guitar and output of sound intolerable. But if you rig your ps3 up to a Hifi or other, with the component cable that came with your ps3, but with the picture still through HDMI to your tv (multi-out option in ps3 video set up) and it works beautifully! It's great fun to just use as an amp with loads of effects and loads of options to create your own, if you wish. The game play itself is good too. Rocksmith quickly figures out your level and adjusts the "mastery" (complexity) to suit you. Many complex riffs and sections will be reduced to 1 or two key notes, so you won't feel totally lost. Progression through your "journey" is fun and rewarding, but how much tool enjoy this depends on your song taste. There are a few that I dread to see on the "set list" but this is inevitable, really. You can always play your favourites at any time, or practice your favourite section of a song with options for speed and mastery, though. Then there are the mini-games, which are a fun distraction that will certainly benefit players' coordination and knowledge of scales and chords. Overall it's a great concept executed very well which any guitarist or wannabe guitarist will enjoy as long as the hardware is set up correctly. The song list could be better though.

Excellent!!

Brilliant game. I had never even picked up a guitar before but after just one week I can play 2 songs! Can't recommend enough, perfect even for complete beginners.

Better than expected

The main reason I thought this may not be so good was time lag. That is the time between hitting the guitar strings and actually hearing the sound coming from your speakers on TV/amp. There is a slight lag but I can work with it. All depends on your set up. There are some great tunes on the disc and the difficulty changes depending on how you are playing. As a guitar learning tool I'd say it's up there with the best of them. Now I can play a video game and feel I'm also doing something constructive!
