Silent Hill HD Collection brings you Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams and Silent Hill 3; two games from the classic, nail bitingly terrifying Silent Hill legacy. These two games have been completely remastered and revamped in superb high definition quality, and for the first time ever are now available on the Playstation 3 with this release. The Silent Hill games are pioneers in their genre, combining tense atmospheres with high-adrenaline action and suspenseful moments, all guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat with every second you play. This collection gives you the chance to immerse yourself in these classic games once more, with better quality and revitalised graphics to give you an overall better game playing experience.

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams was originally released in 2001, and revolves around the protagonist James Sunderland, a heartbroken man who is grieving over the death of his beloved wife Mary. The story begins when James receives a letter from Mary, who died three years ago, asking James to meet her at their special place in the town of Silent Hill. Still devastated by her death, James goes to Silent Hill in the hope of seeing her again, and gets so much more than he bargained for. James suddenly finds himself in the zombie infested town, where all of his guilt, deepest secrets, and nightmares have come to life and are pursuing him. Redefine the survival horror genre as you play James, and run from the terrifying demon Pyramid Head as you search for the truth you appear to have repressed.
Silent Hill 3 was originally released in 2003, and is a direct sequel to the first game in the saga: Silent Hill. The game is set seventeen years after the events of the first, when the hero Harry Mason was given a baby girl to care for after defeating a god who was summoned by Silent Hill's residential cult. The girl, named Heather, is now seventeen and inexplicably drawn into the alternate reality of the town of Silent Hill. The cult is still in existence and are now pursuing Heather as they need her as part of one of their occult rituals, in order to use her to birth their god. Play Heather in this spine-chilling sequel, as you attempt to unravel the truth about your birth, and survive the horror you have found yourself in.
Experience once more the thrilling and pioneering games that redefined the survival horror genre in glistening high definition quality, with each suspenseful and terrifying minute keeping you on the edge of your seat. (Cat Emerson)

There's no doubt that Silent Hill 2 & 3 are two of the best games of last generation of consoles. Plot, characters development, setting, atmosphere... all of this parts are awesome and trully recommendable. The problem is the conversion itself isn't very good. There are issues with the frame-rate and cut-scenes, the fog is messed up in Silent Hill 2 and you can say that the game plays itself worse than it did in Playstation 2 and Xbox. Overall, they are still amazing games, but if you have the originals, you better keep them and pass on this HD "collection". Finally, I still don't understand why Silent Hill 4 is not in this.
For me one of the best horror games play ever! In HD amazing for ps3. And very very good price.
loved it,, amazing,, got all of them,, x
A thrilling collection of one of the most aclaimed titles of PS2. The Sound and Quality are excelent. One title you must have.
Loved 1 & 2 from the past & never played 3, so this was a no brainer, 2's possibly the best of the series, looking forward to playing 3, reccomended.
Silent Hill HD Collection is excellent and with the new HD, it is even more amazing.
Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 on one disc. I didn't buy this for the sake of it being in HD but for the convenience of having them available to play on the PS3 after my PS2 died long ago. Both HD games have dialogue recorded by new voice actors when a lot of fans would have much preferred the originals. Thankfully both the original and new voices are available to choose between when playing SH2 but unfortunately not for SH3. There are also a few other niggles such as SH2's water effects looking bad in comparison to the original PS2 version and some needless sound effect changes which actually made one of the creepy moments less effective. In SH3's case the character tended to slow down a lot in the outdoor areas of the game. I've heard that there has since been a patch made available to rectify some of the problems though I have yet to use it myself. I would recommend the HD Collection if you simply want to be able to play these games on a newer console or if you have yet to play them ( Silent Hill 2 is generally considered the best in the series and has a very strong and moving storyline ) - just keep in mind that they are not quite the best versions compared to the original PS2 ones. I've marked the HD Collection as "Good" since both games are well worth playing and are great survival horror.
Silent Hill and Resident Evil were both phenomenal horror games with scary game playing and creatures, puzzles but Silent Hill 2 was one of the best of series, and the remake of this 2nd game is great dejavu after a decade. Downpour or Raccoon City were both disasters - horror game fans want more puzzles, more survival, more scary original scenarios. I don't think a horror game should look like an action or shooter game, because you can't feel the same as you did decades ago, if you just run with fully loaded modern heavy arms on hand. Silent Hill 3 was not that great, and was quite the same as the 2nd. I recommend you give it a shot, as it brings back some nice memories.
Excellent compilation to discover two awesome classics of survival horror genre. Enter Silent Hill, a town where fear is a permanent resident. And remember, in this city, nobody can hear you scream !
Two of the best survival horror games ever, in the form of Silent Hill Restless Dreams and Silent Hill 3, come in one package. It's a must-have for everyone who loves the horror/survival genres.
I last played Silent Hill 2 when it first came out on the PS2 and I enjoyed it then and I never got a chance to play Silent Hill 3 so it was good to get the chance to play it in HD. If youre a fan of Silent Hill or even if youre not then you should consider buying this game because it is really enjoyable and since Resident Evil isn't scary anymore then this will make you jump because it made me jump while playing it especially in the dark alone so if you like survival horrors or want to play and get into one then you should really pick this game up and experience the scary survival horror and terror yourself.
This Silent Hill HD Collection is very well made. I didn't expect it to be but I liked it very much and it reminded me of old times. Those who have played it before, it will keep you interested, those that have not, it's a must have!
I love the Silent Hill series and have been waiting for this collection for so long, through all the endless delays. This is actually a massive step backward from the PS2 originals. Upon booting and finding how bad this downgrade actually is, from unusable audio which has always been essential in creating the atmosphere Silent Hill is so famous for. It has plain broken graphics, which are so much worse than the original's. Together this mess becomes almost comical.
If you're into hunting for clues with great graphics, a brilliant storyline, and a game that's hard to tear yourself away from. Then Silent Hill HD Collection is definitely the one for you.
I have been a Silent Hill fan for the past 10 years and it still scares the life out of me! I'd recommend this game to anybody who hasnt played the Silent Hill franchise before but for Silent hill veterans it is slightly disappointing. The graphics do look a little tidier but in some areas it looks too 'clean' which Silent Hill is far from. Also the game can lag in some areas which can be frustrating especially when fighting a boss battle. The overall plots of the story keeps you on edge throughout the game and will offer a scary experience. Its just a shame Konami didn't do a better job with the graphics/lag.
The Silent Hill games looked amazing when they came out on the PS2 and now they look even better in HD. The sound quality is fanatstic as well as lookin really polished, I definfitely would recommend these games if people like a scary atmosphere.
This game really dissapointed me as a fan of the series. It could of been done so much better. There are various faults and glitches worth knowing before buying the game such as the new voice acting (optional in 2, but in 3 it's new voices only) which isn't to everybodys taste. The control of the characters can be quite jumpy and glitchy at times, and some of the scenes end up looking worse than the originals. However the original games are very good, and I like the use of trophies as now you can go back to old titles and it adds a new challenge. I think that if you've never played these games it's worth trying them as they are very good games, but if your a fan of the series or have played them before, perhaps stick to the original copies if you still have them.
Excellent game. Brings back some memories. A must have for Silent Hill fans. Zavvi.com are excellent too.
The Silent Hill HD Collection packs the two amazing PS2 survival horror titles (Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3) onto one Blu-Ray disc with revamped HD graphics. Now whether you are a newcomer to the games or long-time fan, these two games are a treat. The one bad thing is that Silent Hill 2 and 3 had to have reworked voice acting. On 2, you get the option to play with either the original or reworked voice acting whereas on 3, you don't get this option. Nevertheless, these 2 iconic games are a treat for any loyal gamer!
Impressed, I read a lot of reviews about this game before buying and it received a lot of negative press. But I have personally compared this to the PS2 and PC versions of the original and it does look a lot better, especially in HD. My advice to anyone would be to read the reviews of the PS2 game because this is the same game, the visuals do not have a massive impact on the way the game plays. Plus think about it, for the price you are paying you are getting two of the best survival horror games ever made.
If you ever played the Silent Hill games way back when on the PS2, you should consider buying this - not only for the HD resolution and upated graphics, but also for the sheer fact that these games provide hours of entertainment (try playing them at night in the dark) and the added trophy support now on PS3. The only downside to this is the controls, I guess. They are unchanged from the original games, but they are still quite annoying compared to other games - still a must buy though.
