    Description

Twisted Metal is the fantastic eighth installment in the legendary series of the same name, developed by Eat Sleep Play and published by Sony. This game revitalises the saga with a bang, boasting vicious, fast-paced and high action car combat like no other.

Once again, the enigmatic and bloodthirsty madman Calypso is hosting his infamous Twisted Metal Tournament; contestants selected from the world over battle for survival in a competition of deadly driving, with the ultimate goal being to be the last one standing. This victorious contestant will be rewarded with Calypso's mysterious grand prize: granting one wish. Taking part in the most lethal tournament known to mankind are the three main playable characters Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm, and Dollface. Each of these three bring their own henchmen into the bloody, adrenaline-fuelled mix, transforming the game into a world overrun with brutal gang warfare. The campaign is split into three chapters with each character having a chapter devoted to them, complete with their back story via the help of live action cut scenes, as well as their face off with Calypso.

When in single player campaign mode, you will have seventeen vehicles to choose from, each one dressed to the nines in the most outrageous weaponry specifically designed for the annihilation of your opponents. These vehicles come complete with mental additions including and ranging from blood missiles, rat rockets, shockwave attacks, exploding coffins, and so much more. Each car has their own unique abilities and statistics, with different rankings for speed, armoury, and their vicious weapons, so you can choose the best vehicle suited to your preferred style of decimation. In order to make each challenge more interesting than the last, useful power-ups have been scattered around the massive environments you will find yourself in, as well as a health semi that drives around the map and rewards players with full vehicle repairs. The power-ups vary from standard missiles and mines to freezing blasts, shields, and the sniper rifle to name but a few, each one allowing you to leave a path of destruction in your wake.

Multiplayer takes a massive step forward with this latest edition of Twisted Metal, with both online and offline co-op being completely revamped in order to give you the best chaotic experience you can get. The multiplayer brings a varied range of modes to play in both ranked and unranked matches, pitting you against fellow Twisted Metal fanatics in the best vehicular fights known to man. Competing earns you experience, which can then in turn earn you special rewards when you take part in ranked matches, and can unlock various items such as new cars, sidearms, skin packs, and more for you to use to gain advantage over the opposition. With such a textured universe to explore and wreak havoc in from all different angles, it's safe to say that Twisted Metal is still as twisted and chaotic as ever. Start your engines... Brings Back Memories

Twisted Metal was the pinnacle of gaming as a kid. I spent months playing Twisted Metal split screen and I'm pleased to say that the new version lives up to my nostalgic memories. Things have changed within the game; less characters being the major change. It's a shame that you can't play as all the different characters but isn't a deal breaker. The three stories are interesting (if a tad more serious than I was expecting) and the cut scenes are top quality with a nice grindhouse feel to them. As for gameplay, the controls take a bit of getting used to, however the training mode does a great job of getting you used to them. Once you get them mastered they do become fairly intuitive and that's when the game really comes alive. The AI is good with an instinct for fight or flight in the right situations. The major difference between this iteration and previous instalments is the use of the garage. Rather than picking one character and only using their vehicle, you now pick three vehicles at the start of the level. These can be three different ones, the same one three times or a mixture. Once on the map, there is a garage which allows you to swap vehicle. This can lead to very tactical gameplay where certain cars are more appropriate for taking down other ones - a nice addition for a fairly simple idea. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone with a dark sense of humour and label it a must buy for fans of the series.

Good Classic Game - Bad Physics

I loved Twisted Metal on the old play station consoles. So i couldn't wait to pick up Twisted Metal for PS3... as soon as i got it, i put it into my console and started playing... The first thing: the game is almost the same like the old ones... so this is a good sign cause the game play didn't change that much. okay... there are new fancy features like the bikes and stuff you've seen in all those you tube videos but let me tell you one thing: The Game-Physics are definitely NOT state of the art... I'm really disappointed about that.

    It's.... okay.

This game was my last hope of seeing a Twisted Metal game live up to the standard set all the way back in 1997 with Twisted Metal 2 (World Tour). Whilst better than Twisted Metal Black it's a step back from Twisted Metal Head-On and no where near as good as 2.

    Twisted Metal (Pre-Order DLC)

Twisted Metal is great, apart from it's notoriously poor online matchmaking. I don't really think I can sum it up in any more detail than that, but seriously, the online servers are very poor.

    Twisted Metal (Pre-Order DLC)

Twisted Metal is a great game. The controls take a bit of time to get used to, but it doesn't really make it a bad game. It has great graphics to make up for it, but I can't find any games to enjoy online, as you can be waiting hours for a game to start.

    Twisted Metal (Pre-Order DLC)

Above all else, a game should be fun and enjoyable to play. Too many modern games have you chacing achievements and kill death ratio's, rather than providing a fun experience. I want a game that will put a smile on my face, that will have me excited to get home, just to pop it into my Playstation, that will fill me with a feeling of accomplishment, purely because I participated and enjoyed myself, in doing so (you know, like the old days). I care not for Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, or anything that makes me want to throw a controller at the screen, because they've focussed on the competitive aspect of the game far, far too much (street fighter 4, anyone?). Though I do play these games from time to time, I feel the fun factor has been sucked away from them, along with almost every other game franchise in existence. A bit of competition is good, but because it sells, everything is now competitive... sigh. Not with this game lol. Playing with bots, with friends in the same room, or online, this game is awesome. Ever play a game where a glitch makes you laugh out loud and love the game even more? Ever play the same match for hours, not for wins, but for fun? Ever invite a friend over, just to play with them, because it's more fun when you're both in the same room? If not, then you probably missed out on most of what gaming is all about and why so many older gamers, like me, are still playing.

    Twisted Metal (Pre-Order DLC)

Glad to see that with Twisted Metal, the format has remained. It's bad to see that when a title is released from years ago, it has changed beyond belief. This one hasn't, and because of this, it's still awesome.

    Twisted Metal (Pre-Order DLC)

I enjoy Twisted Metal so much. The campaign is so addictive, and the Multi-player is even more thrilling. I definitely recommend that you buy it.
