The career mode in Dirt: Showdown is too short, the tracks are too flat and predictable, and the option to design your own vinyl on the cars is downright missing from the game, especially for the multi-player. On the good side, there’s plenty of cars to choose from, the different modes are fun and addictive and the aggressive high-rev motor sounds from the cars is topping it all off nicely.

I was not sure if Showdown is as good as Dirt 2 and 3 because of the Low Price and I had never heard of it in the past, but it's a fantastic game and I love it.

Pure fun

Dirt: Showdown is a gem. Why? Because it's pure fun. Yeah, it's an arcade, but this game was meant to be simple to master, and once you do, you'll enjoy it. Racing, derby, tricks - it's all here. And the joyride mode is excellent. It was a real pleasure to do all 150 tricks. It's too bad there are only 2 playgrounds. There are also 4 tours, each consisting of 16 races, and plenty of vehicles to choose from. All in all, it's a great arcade racer. Just don't take it seriously and don't expect it to be a rally simulator.

Showdown!

A good spin-off series of Dirt. It has the style of the Destruction Derby and introduce a new arcade mode. I would recommend it to anyone.

One of the best games

Me and a friend of mine have been playing Dirt: Showdown non stop for the last week. It's great.

Dirt: Showdown

Dirt: Showdown is a very "arcadey " driving game. It does what it does pretty well, that is to provide quick fun with crazy races and car-smashing shows (quite à la Destruction Derby). There are some hooningan events, with hoonigan tricks, drifts and mini-games. Although the number of venues and cars (few of them real) is not huge, the game is quite fun and satisfactory. If you are looking for a "Destruction Derby 2012" experience, this looks fine. Just don't expect any of the driving simulation or technical intricacies of previous Dirt games.

Dirt: Showdown is one of the most brilliant racing games ever. It's tons of fun, the gameplay is smooth, the graphics are awesome and the multiplayer is the best. It's so fun... just buy it!

Codemasters triumph again

I bought this based upon the other games in the series that I had played and with a view to introducing both the game and the destruction derby aspect to my son. Having played destruction derby as a PS1 game this certainly improved the experience and as i had hoped my son loves the game. With lots of tracks and tricks to learn this game offers longevity but can also be played in short bursts. Well worth buying.

Great Arcade Racer

Showdown is the arcade version of Dirt3. Really nice and fun Game-play ! Really a good choice for fans of Destruction Derby and Flatout!

Dirt: Showdown is an excellent Demolition Derby game which is also a lot of fun with both the split screen and online players. There are a few extra party games online as well such as capture the flag which tends to spice things up a bit. The career mode is a little short but still fun when competing against your friends times/scores but it is definitely the online multiplayer you are going to have the most fun with.

This should of been an Xbox Live Arcade/PSN game. I bought it for a decent price here at Zavvi, so don't feel that hard done by, but it's not one of Codemasters best. I used to love the Michigan Destruction Derby races on Grid, they were very popular online even a year after release. Codies obviously saw this, read the stats and saw what people liked it, and made a game which they thought would be my cup of tea. Well it's not bad, but it's not good either. There is little innovation here, or anything you haven't really seen in DiRT 1/2/3 or Grid (where's Grid 2?!). It's a mix of sort-of racing with special events (Hoonigan rubbish basically, if you know it). It is tedious stuff, going off jumps, doing donuts (American spelling in the game), blasting through markers. It's filler really. Then the actual races don't feel much like races, of course it's very arcade-ish, but Grid and Dirt did it better without the OTT. Destruction derbies aren't as much fun as you think and get old quick. There is little depth other than to "upgrade" you're cars stat's, you do not buy parts or change mechanical settings like Forza/GT. It is basic and limited. There isn't much reason to come back to the game and I've only played it for a few hours. Also the multiplayer seems very quiet after only a short time from when the game was released. Doesn't bode well. My advice is buy Grid and/or Blur. Both must be under a tenner now and are far far better driving games. Blur is wicked arcade fun, and Grid has the semi-serious realistic racing, with much more depth than Showdown.

Dirt: Showdown is a brilliant spin-off to the series for those in need of revenge or just miss the destruction derbies. Though I am quite disappointed by how short it is, as if you blitz it the game like I did, it's done in like, a good couple of days. This should have been released as a downloadable content, rather than a full-priced game.
