Great game
Final Fantasy XIII is different from past Final Fantasy games by being more linear and having a different battle system. The new battle system works great and if fun and cinematic. The graphics are amazing! They look like something out of a movie! The music is also great as well. The story is very good (but not as good a previous Final Fantasies). It is a very long game (50 hours or so) which means you get your moneys worth.

Superb
I found FF XIII a very good game but it's boring at the beginning, it starts to be interesting in the 2nd DVD. Anyway I liked the gameplay and the longevity of the game.

Has FF13 fulfilled its focus?
Being a huge fan of all Final Fantasy games, I expected this to be a cut above the rest. And it has certainly impressed me. Graphically, the character animation, cut scenes and in game graphics live up to the FF franchise, however beyond the sheer beauty of the game's exterior, lies a somewhat linear, and pretty straight forward story line. There are no shops, or towns to visit which I felt was a strong feature in most of the FF games. So why remove them? Where are the cool limit breaks which give the characters their own unique fighting edge? The levels seem to feel repetitive after a few hours of gameplay. I felt like the game didn't give me much freedom. Where is the World map? Overall, I did enjoy the game and it did keep me engrossed for a long time, but I just feel the components from the previous FF games that made the game experience unique were not there. I will give this game 4/5 because I am a huge fan of FF, and I do feel this is a solid and well executed game. Attention to detail is second to none, but next time keep the classic traits of the previous FF games!

The Final Word
Graphically the game is astounding. Character models are deftly realised; if a little stereotyped at times, and the surroundings are dazzlingly beautiful, whether you're traipsing along the city walks or venturing through wide open fields. The gameplay is engaging and rewarding; there's always something to be done and switching between paradigms brings in strategy effectively. The main gripe here is that micro-managing your party is not possible, which may turn some hardcore RPG fans off. The narrative is suitably twisting and interesting and will keep you playing until the end. The main problem with the game comes with the fact that it is irritatingly linear. Even when it 'opens up' (around 30 hours of so), there still isn't enough to do. My advice would be to play through the single player quickly to avoid becoming too aware of the corridor running nature of it all. Definitely worth a purchase, even if it hasn't quite matched up to expectations.
