    Description

Ghostbusters: The Video Game, based on the smash hit motion picture franchise and featuring a completely new story, is coming to Xbox 360 in 2009. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary celebration of the film's original theatrical release, the game reunites original cast members to recapture the unique blend of humour and fright that established Ghostbusters as a pop culture sensation.

Penned by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters: The Video Game brings members of the original cast together for the first time in 20 years. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. Players will have the chance to chase, attack, and catch ghosts in a funny and frightening battle to save New York from its latest supernatural plague.

    nostalgia trip gone wrong

I never was a big fan of Ghostbusters but I did watch both films more than few times when I was little so I felt that it was enough to make this a nostalgia trip or so I thought. Expect Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis all the actors reprise their roles on the game but that doesn't really matter because the game doesn't have the ghostbusters feeling and script is just bad. Even the famous ghostbuster theme song is horribly used and it only plays on loading screen for a short moment and gets of course cut off because loading times are pretty short. It also plays for short moment on beginning of the game but it gets cut off again. I like the idea of not overusing it but there should have been one epic moment where the whole song is played. Gameplay itself isn't shabby either but it does its job. First few levels are great but after a while the level design also turns worse and the end the game feels just boring. So to sum it up ghostbuster isn't much of nostalgia trip and the gameplay just feels mediocre third person shooter. Wouldn't recommend it particularly.

If you love the movie you will love this. It's kind of like Gears of War 2, and just as fun. Some chuckles too!
