This incredible game series is the work of the renowned director and game creator Hideo Kojima, who is a figurehead for pioneering the stealth action genre in games. The Metal Gear Solid saga is noted for the innovative storyline and game play, with the protagonist being an elite secret agent from a special forces unit, who you must guide through enemy territory during tense solo missions. Explore vast terrain and enemy base camps, hone your skills to sneak past the enemy undetected, alone and without any support from your comrades, whilst your life is constantly on the line.
Metal Gear Solid: 2
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty was originally released in 2001 for the Playstation 2. The game is set two years after the events of Shadow Moses, with Solid Snake and Octacon as part of Philanthropy; an anti-metal gear non-governmental organisation that they founded. They receive word that incredibly sensitive technological information has been leaked on to the black market regarding the walking nuclear-armed Metal Gear unit, and that a prototype is being transported through the Hudson River. However, this is a trap set by high-tech Special Forces Unit FOXHOUND (the US Army's elite black ops unit that was established by Big Boss) member Ocelot and his Russian mercenaries, who seize the tanker. The plan goes awry, and the tanker sinks to the bottom of the Hudson River, and Solid Snake is believed to have gone down with it. Two years later and The Big Shell, an oil clean up facility set up on the bay of the river, has been taken over by a terrorist group calling themselves the Sons Of Liberty, with their leader claiming to be Solid Snake. Raiden, a new FOXHOUND recruit, is sent to infiltrate the Big Shell and neutralise the threat, yet it becomes clear he has fallen into an incredibly well spun web of deception.
Metal Gear Solid: 3
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was originally released in 2005 for the Playstation 2. The game is set in 1964 in the midst of the Cold War. Special agent Naked Snake is sent to Soviet territory on a mission to help a scientist, Sokolov, switch sides to the West. The mission is sabotaged by The Boss, a female soldier otherwise known as the Mother Of Special Forces, who is America's greatest agent and Snake's mentor. The Boss betrays her country when she defects to the Soviet Union, giving them a miniature nuclear warhead which they then launch at a Russian research facility. Meanwhile, an extremist by the name of Colonel Volgin launches an American made missile at the Soviet design bureau, causing an international incident that seems to be leading in to the third World War. In order for America to prove her innocence, Naked Snake is assigned a mission by special forces unit FOX... the mission being to assassinate The Boss.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker was originally released in 2010 for the PSP, revolutionising hand held gaming. This game tells the tale of a legendary soldier called Naked Snake, a.k.a. Big Boss, during the 1970s, and the truth behind his story in signature third person game play. The game begins after the events that occurred during Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It's 1974, and Snake has killed his treacherous mentor the Boss, left the United States, and founded Militaires Sans Frontieres (soldiers without borders), which takes on the cases and missions of those who need their help. A certain case finds its way to Big Boss showing that the CIA have invaded Costa Rica, a country without a military to defend them, and that his mentor the Boss may still be alive. Needless to say he takes the case, in order to both stop a Metal Gear from launching nuclear missiles and devastating the world, as well as answer all the questions raised in the aftermath of Snake Eater. As always, your stealth is your greatest weapon.(Cat Emerson)

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Limited Edition is the best game ever. Nothing beats it. It's awesome.
Three fantastic games in one neat package with a superb art book and t-shirt. All you need now is a cardboard box to hide under.
The Limited Edition package did not live up to the quality of previous Limited Editions in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The contents were not so bad, but the overall presentation was underwhelming and the packaging was far too flimsy and lacked quality - especially in comparison to previous Metal Gear Solid Limited Editions.
The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Limited Edition is fantastic for the price, especially for the money. Bought it for my boyfriends birthday and he was chuffed with. Perfect gift for any metal gear solid fan.
The game came in a very good condition. I like the shirt and the steelbook.
Totally fab package worth the extra money. The only niggle is the packaging is a bit flimsy.
First I have to say this review may seem a bit biased, but it´s perfectly normal when talking about one of the best franchises ever created. It is better to divide the review by points to help future buyers: Story: The phrase "Interactive Entertainment" is more than enough to describe what goes on with Metal Gear. The story is so well told, you will feel you are watching a movie, in which you are the main character. You will develop feelings for the characters and won´t be able to let go until you reach the end. I don't want to ruin the story for anyone, but trust me when I say, you will enjoy it very much. Graphics: What was astonishing years ago, got polished and given an HD treatment. Of course you can't expect it to match some of the games that are released now, but remember that these games came from the previous generation, and will still make you amazed on the character detail and amazing environments. Sound: One of the best soundtracks ever. You cannot match the genius Harry Gregson-Williams. Envolving music will help you feel you are truly living the emotions of the main character. Value: Simply put: You will receive 3 of the best games ever created for the price of one. Not only that, but it comes with so good extras, that I cannot stop thinking that I got a really good bargain. Rate: 9.5/10 Why not a 10? Simply because it is missing MGS1. Although you the story begins with MGS Snake Eater, MGS1 is a must play before playing MGS2.
Awesome Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Limited Edition. Fantastic presentation.
The Metal Gear Solid saga is legendary, and this HD collection is a must-buy for every fan!
Nice t-shirt (size is bigger than M, but smaller than L), excellent art-book with great quality paper and good steel book. Though the art on it is just a sticker, it is still good, and everybody knows that the game is great. This bundle is worth every penny.
I remember playing the demo for MGS2 all those years back when you got a free demo disk on magazines. Now I'm older and consoles have moved on - the PS2 a relic most would say but this is a game series that is timeless especially the ones included here. It doesn't disappoint at all - all those memories are coming back but now they have all the modern features to contend with including HD graphics. As for the package itself it is awesome, I'm a big sucker for collectors editions so I snapped this right up and I'm glad for it, the outer box provided generous protection and some nice artwork but the party is on the inside. You'll find a Steelbook, a top notch art book and an awesome official MGS t-shirt that fitted like a treat. Bottom line if you are even a hint of an MGS fan and have all those fond memories of yesteryear you need to pick this up.
I bought the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Limited Edition and I am extremely happy with it. The price is excellent for what you get. It is a large box with an extra case, a beautiful t-shirt and an absolute perfect big art book with a hard cover! As for the games I have played so far, the first two and the quality of the remake is very good. Graphics run smoothly at 60 fps and I can say that Metal Gear Solid 3 is so good that you can easily pass it for a game of the current generation of consoles. Every Metal Gear Solid fan should buy this 10/10 HD collection, especially if you haven't played any of these games. Perfect.
Blast from the past in this fantastic special edition available from Zavvi and at an amazing price. So grab one while you still can!
You don't need to be a genius to know that the Metal Gear Solid franchise is amazing, albeit a little exaggerated. It makes the magic. The HD collection gathers up three of the games and transforms them into something nice and shiny for your xbox or PS3. Yet if you can, buy the limited edition copy. At first I scoffed and said 'Nay', especially after the initial disappointment of Mass Effect 3's 'collector edition' - who wants a sampler art book and a hard to download soundtrack? People who like bad endings. But I had to go to the post office to pick up the MGS limited edition, because it came in a huge box, and it's a huge game, filled to the brim with awesome goodies. How often is a limited edition actually worth the term 'limited'? How often is a game accompanied with fine goodies that makes you think Christmas has came early? You get three amazing games in HD, and you get a bundle of joy that you'll never regret. Best bit? Zavvi has it at a brilliant price.
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is amazing, fantastic games in stunning HD. The graphics in the collection makes every game so much more enjoyable to play.
A t-shirt, a quite elaborate art book and the games along with a tin container? Awesome value for money. Remember that these games alone are brilliant. I'm sad that they didn't remake the first one too, it would have been more brilliant. If you're a Metal Gear Solid fan, it's a no-brainer. Not a fan? You should try it and see if you become one.
I bought the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection as a gift for my boyfriend. I haven't seen him since, so I guess it's a great game. The t-shirt size was perfect. The label says M, but he is a typical L, so I think it's an L. Case and book look great. It is worth the money.
Metal Gear Solid has always been my favourite game series and now it is available in stunning HD. This collection comes with an amazing Art Book and T-shirt - at a great price too!
Metal Gear Solid has always been a great game, this collection brought back a lot of memories from my PS2 days. Any fans of the series must buy this as they will not be disappointed.
The Metal Gear Solid franchise has been around over 25 years now, with memorable boss fights and movie-style cutscenes, and now, for the first time, you can play 3 great games at once with achievements to boot. I have already played over 40+ hours, as it's all very addictive, and the peacewalker game also has online mode, where you can play with others or friends, which makes for epic team effort.
