Rayman Origins is the wonderfully revitalised game that brings the classic Rayman legacy back to life, fifteen years since the first launch of the franchise. The game follows on the saga's traditional 2D side scrolling platform gameplay, yet has completely revamped the graphics, making the brilliantly unique world and characters vibrant and colourful. Explore once again the magical lands of Rayman's world in this innovative new game, with a little help from your friends.
The story begins with Rayman and his friends relaxing in their home the Glade Of Dreams, when they accidentally disturb a little old Granny from the Land of the Livid Dead. In retaliation, the Granny unleashes an evil army of Darktoons and various other evil creatures into the Glade, where they cause absolute mayhem and hold captive all the Electoons and Nymphs. The Fairy Council request the help of Rayman to help save the world and rescue the Electoons. Play as Rayman in solo campaign with his friends Globox and the two ingenious Teensie wizards, which allows up to four people in drop in drop out multiplayer playing his friends, as you go out to restore peace in the Glade Of Dreams.
The game has expanded on all of Rayman's quirky and various abilities to apply them to all the unique levels and environments you will experience. These abilities include running up walls, mid air gliding with the use of his Hairly Copter, shrinking himself, swimming, diving, and more. These become unlocked the more you progress through the game, each new world you conquer giving you an ability to learn, and definitely come in useful when you want to discover secret areas in levels. Certain levels unlock time trials, which means you have to repeat the level in a set time; when completed properly this allows you to free more Electoons, and you can even earn trophies for the fastest time. There are also incredibly fast-paced and fun treasure chest levels to unlock, where you have to speed chase a moving treasure chest through a dangerous course that will put your skills to the test. These treasure levels give you ruby teeth and, should you complete them all, grant you access to a whole other world: The Stars Of The Livid Dead Tour.
Some old fan favourite aspects appear in the game as well, such as riding the mosquito through certain levels, collecting Lums (which are Rayman's form of currency), and epic boss fights. New and exceptionally terrifying bosses appear in this game, for example a giant carnivorous plant! There are also over a hundred new characters to meet, 60 levels to complete, and a vast array of extra bonus material and content to unlock. Enjoy this wonderfully fun and colourful game once more, and collect pieces of the Glade's history throughout, so you can discover the truth of Rayman's Origins. (Cat Emerson)

Rayman Origins impressed me a lot. I don't know who did all those backgrounds, characters and their animations, but these people are real professionals. The visuals are so beautiful that you won't be able to find any small prop which lacks attention to detail. Awesome job! Game play-wise, it's a great platformer. Maybe it's a bit hard in some levels, but passing those is really satisfactory. Music and sounds are extremely good too. It's recommended to everyone.
Great game for my 6 year old kids and the whole family. Been playing for more than 10 hours, and still not finished. Excellent graphics 1080p, nice music. More controllers more fun, we play mostly 2 players mode, and laugh all the time. Must have this one, and zavvi has the lowest price.

I´ve bought this game because i liked the demo and it was ok, and with the price i thought "why not"? Now that i've played the game for several hours, i can really say: this game it's great!! Its one of the best platforms in years, and, imho, the best of the current console gen. It reminds you of old times and games like Donkey Kong Country. Shot story: great game, buy it if you like old school games.
For the price I bought it, it's just a wonderful and fun to play game. Not many games on this generation are made to get along with some friends and start playing right away. Maybe Castle Crashers or Little Big Planet are the examples that comes to mind. Rayman Origins plays in the same league: fun straight out of the box, beautiful graphics, superb level design and a simple concept that increases the difficulty level after level. Really great buy. Totally recommended to play with your friends and kids.
Rayman Origins shows that 2D platformers are still worthy of full retail products. It's charm and and vibrant visuals will keep you glued to your screen till the games closing act, which lasts a good 12 hours or so. While its tight gameplay makes a somewhat simple mechanic stay fresh throughout the game. It's well timed pacing, gives you new abilities to play with in the first half of the game so that you don't get bored. And in the second half the difficulty is tough but fair, never making you feel like you have been cheated. Rayman Origins invites you to come back after you're finished and replay the levels gaining time trial trophies, finding secret locations and collecting as many of those elusive electoons as humanely possible. To top it all off it comes with local 2-4 player co-op which is an absolute blast and reminiscent of the fun you can only have when friends are next to you, either cheering you on or bad mouthing you like good friends should. Add this to it's great musical score that keeps the player warm and fuzzy, it makes it very simple to recommend this game for anybody who has any interest in this genre or for people looking for something different.
This game is simply beautiful. It is this type of game that I missed. Generous, surprising, enjoyable. It is neither too hard nor too easy. IT must be for hard gamers but also casuals. The replay-ability is not evident although permitted by staging unusual. And we love playing in multiplayer mode, very fun. One can regret the lack of online mode. It is mandatory these days, it is a choice of developers.
My expectations for Rayman Origins were so high as the reviews looked amazing, but based on what I've played so far, it's one of the most disappointing games ever! It's hilarious, but for the wrong reasons, unfortunately. I can only hope that this game recovers from a truly terrible start.
There are times when you miss old games. Plenty of genres were known as dead (adventures, platform arcade) until the recent years. We all miss oldschool Earth worm Jim, Sonic, Ecco the Dolphin, etc. Surprisingly, they started to re-appear as new gen versions in Xbox Arcade store and PSN. It is the time and game you shouldn't miss! If you ever played the good old Rayman on Sega Saturn or PSX - you'll like it with no doubts. Rich colours, subtle (and not always childish) humour, great controls make it a great cartoon adventure we all wanted. Rayman Origins and new Mortal Kombat gave new life to the old style games which seemed to be forgotten. 2D RULES! Well done!
I haven't played Rayman for a very long time, but what I do remember from playing the original, was that it was the only game that both me, and my sister enjoyed, and after playing this new instalment it's still easy to see why. Rayman Origins is just so much fun. If you want to, you could simply breeze through the game's many levels, or you could try to catch as many electrons as possible, which is really difficult. The best part of it, is that it's great for kids, and great for adults at the same time. The graphics are simply gorgeous, and may be the best looking 2D game ever, and the soundtrack is so much fun. Even the repetitive parts of it. If you're a parent who wants a game that you could play with your kids, this is the one for you. Even if you're a hardcore gamer, wouldn't let this one pass you. I've noticed that all the rest of the games I own on Xbox 360, are for a specific audience, but this one is a must have for anyone who is even thinking about video games. I definitely recommend it.
I recently bought an Xbox 360, and Rayman Origins is one of the first games I've bought for it. I was definitely not disappointed. I have to say, Rayman Origins is an amazing game, and having not played other Rayman games, my expectations weren't so high. The whole game starts in a time where Rayman and his friends wake some old woman from her slumber, and she sends a horde of enemies into their peaceful land. Wierd, I know. The game consists of over 60 beautifully-animated levels, in which you will run, kick, die many times, and laugh. A lot of the small things that happen on screen are very funny when you notice them, and I really like this little "hidden gem" element of the game. You can play Rayman Origins with up to 3 other players, but online multiplayer isn't included. All in all, as i said, Origins is a great game and a real 2D refreshment in the age of generic shooters.
The price was right and by god, this game is amazing! Rayman Origins is highly recommended, I'm a 40 year old "nearly" married bloke, love Call of Duty and all first person shooters and this is a nice breath of fresh air..... great and original platformer, fantastic graphics, well thought out and a great challenge ! Get it, you won't be disappointed ;-)
