Perfect

Saints Row: The Third (Professor Genki's Hyper Pre-Order Pack Edition) wants to be the WarioWare of open-city games, and this may be no bad thing. While the giddy mayhem of early GTAs set the table for ostentatious crime drama, Saints Row trims as much context as possible from its carnage, becoming a cartoon flipbook of anything-goes extremity. In its third outing, the games titles have barely finished rolling before youre skydiving from an exploding plane. Tank missions, the traditional climax of GTA clones, arrive but half an hour later, and the game escalates with a breathless, puerile imagination so single-minded that it commands respect. Why have a simple speeding challenge when you can do it on fire or in the company of an ill-tempered tiger? Pyrotechnics that would be the concluding punctuation of any other game are little more than a footnote here; one all-out assault bundles hurriedly into the back of its predecessor, except this time the firefight takes place in freefall, or during a city-wide war, or on Mars. Central missions are thematically varied yet proceed in a mostly linear fashion. A host of leering pop-culture references volley you between violent Japanese-inflected game shows, luchadore wrestling matches, pastiches of Tron, text adventures, zombie apocalypses and more. The games obsessive spoofery is more often empty-headed than not, but there are well-placed gags and sharp writing in here too, and the voice cast gamely hams it up. Yet the drive towards context-free rapid-fire frippery comes with a cost. The continual barrage desensitises you to the action, and the irreverence makes it all feel largely meaningless. In these circumstances, the thin mechanics of many of the games devices fail to act as a satisfactory replacement. Combat often feels like a chore, as you agonisingly bleed wave upon wave of enemies. Even the most basic foes can sponge up entire SMG clips at point-blank range, impatiently nudging players toward the games weapon-upgrade options. Late-game attempts to sabotage player control compound frustrations further. Enemies ram and stagger you while explosions send you reeling amid a blinding cats-cradle of laser fire. In an ill-advised zombie-themed vignette, your undead foes not only waylay you with QTEs and leave you teetering uncontrollably with an unending flurry of blows, but sometimes spontaneously combust, sending you into a protracted, helpless flailing animation, which too frequently ends with you reigniting and entering the cycle once more

Worth the dosh!

After playing previous Saints Row games I was very excited to hear about the release of Saints Row: The Third. After buying it for release day and playing through the campaign it is extremely fun and definitely worth buying for those who love unrealistic, open map games such as this.

Saint Row: The Third

Saints Row has never disappointed with over the top fun action, and the Third installment certainly delivers that in abundance! As soon as you begin the campaign it's straight into the action and it's even more ridiculous than before, and thats how I like it. The game doesn't take itself too seriously and thats what I like about it, I can just pick it up and have a blast. I can play co-operatively with friends or against them online. There is plenty of ways to customise the protagonist and his/hers gang, as well as plenty of downloadable content available now and no doubt to come out in the future to keep the game interesting.

Brilliant

Fantastic Game! Hours of fun and definitely worth a buy if you are into games that involve pure stupidity. The graphics are stunning and a big improvement on Saints Row 2. The weapons are also brilliant. Saints Row: The Third is a must buy for anyone who likes being entertained by games!

Excellent game

Saints Row: The Third is superb, I would go as far to say that it is a better more fun version of the Grand Theft Auto series and the best one in the Saints Row series to date. There is so much variety in this game and the missions and side tasks are so much fun to do. There are also so many vehicles to use such as tanks , choppers, jets, buggies and much more. I would recommend this game to anyone that likes these free roam games such as GTA as it is so much fun to play and it will supply you with hours of enjoyment.

Saints Row The Third

The missions are good and the side missions are just as good. The standout thing in this game for me is all the customisation you can do on your character, its great. Although even after I finished the game I will be playing still just for the sheer laughs I get from it.

Very over the Top

If you like GTA games but like to do outrageous things then Saints Row: The Third is the game for you. Genki's Pack is really ridiculous but very, very fun. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

SR3 - More bonkers than ever!

Another imaginative and ridiculous release from THQ, Saints Row 3 is utterly mad. This time around, activities have been woven into the main storyline to help encourage players to engage more with the side missions. Definitely one for the adults, the 18 rating on this game means what it says. Probably content that a 15 or 16 year old might already have been exposed to, but there's no way you should buy this for an under 15! The graphics and animation have had a major overhaul, and the new hand-to-hand combat / assault system is brilliantly entertaining, with some excellent moves if you fancy a change from the massive arsenal of upgradeable guns and grenades. If you want something a bit different that you can pick-up and play, with the choice of single player or co-op on the campaign, your mates can join in the fun too.

New favourite

Until this game came out, Saint's Row 2 was my all time favourite game. It takes fun to a new level. When I first entered the world of Saint's Row: The Third, I thought "this is great, but what's new here?" - the game initially doesn't appear to offer much different to SR2. Having spent in excess of 80 hours in the world of SR2, I needed SR3 to offer me something new. After about two hours, the game suddenly kicked off, the world opened up with more activities, and I must say, this is my new favourite game. It does offer you new toys over SR2, and in a sense it offers you an RPG element in the way that you can improve on the skills of your character and gang. Aside from the missions and character building, clowning around in SteelPort is as much fun as clowning around in StillWater was, if not more so. Improvements have been made which means that the entertainment can continue non-stop, as now simply entering a store which you own will reset your wanted levels and so you don't get stuck in the middle of a street war with no chance of escaping. Of course, if you wish to see how long you can survive such an event then you're still able to slug it out for as long as you can. I'm now over twenty hours in to this game and still loving it. You won't get gritty realism here, but what you will get is bucket loads of fun - and it's all the better for it. As a fan of SR2, SR3 is my new favourite game and I personally highly recommend it.

Bigger, better and more crazy than ever

In Saints Row: The Third you create your own crazy/normal character with an extensive create a character tool and attempt to take over the fictional city of Steelport. Creativity is key as the game takes all the parts of the GTA you used to love (e.g. the cheats) and lets you run loose. Missions are varied and there is plenty to do after the credits role on the 7-8 hour single player. Co-op is two player online and is just as fun as it was before and with twice as much chaos the game becomes something else. Unfortunately the story isn't quite as funny or as fun as Saints Row 2 and you can no loner choose which gangs to take out first. With that said though the missions have set pieces filled and designed to highlight the games wacky world and its crazy characters. If you find punching people in the balls funny then this game will have you in stitches. It goes without saying that the game is out-right childish sometimes, gamers who are offended easily or dislike wacky slapstick comedy should give this one a miss. Otherwise welcome to Saints Row: The Third, one of the craziest open world games ever.
