Soul Calibur V is fun, fun, fun. The in-game graphics are spectacular. Buy it now.
Soul Calibur V is simply perfect!
I expected a great game, but it is not what I found. I think this game could have been better, it's quite simple. Personally, I prefer the previous. The best of this one, is the character customization and... its price, worthwhile.
This last chapter in the saga of Soul Calibur is definitely a good game, graphically very rewarding and good game play that makes it suitable for all types of gamers. Excellent possibility to create characters at will, customizing the most, but other than that the game modes included are not very innovative and excluding the on-line you can quickly get tired. Still remains one of the best fighting games out there and certainly the most secure solution to beat someone up from your couch.
Really good game. Recommended to all SC fans!
Great game, fans of the previous games will love this.
It's a good game. The fighting mechanism is very well improved. Online play experience is also well improved. Single play isn't that good though. I guess fighting game should be focusing on the online experience.
I like the new way of dishing out special moves, as it's much simpler and less irritating. I don't understand why some characters are gone and have been replaced by new ones with almost the exact same fighting style... Don't really see the point of that. As the series has been going on I've noticed there are less and less combos for characters. I remember in SC2 characters like Kilik had a load, but now in the series the most amount of buttons in a combo input is three. emphasis seems to be on juggling and hitting the opponent when on the ground...which really isn't exciting or fun, but more annoying. I like fights to fit movie or tv, the clashing of swords etc. not throwing your opponent in the air. But then again this seems to be the way with almost all fighting games now. The graphics are excellent, it really is a gorgeous game. Oh and Ivy has now covered herself with a jacket, for better or worse depending on who you are.
I've been playing Soul Calibur games since the first one on the Dreamcast, so I might seem biased but fear not, because Soul Calibur V is a must-have game for anyone that likes fighters.
Soul Calibur 5 Has a powerful character creation tool that allows for some amazing, unique online battles. The story mode leaves me cold, as does the lack of any character endings. Still the best weapon based fighter though and worth the low price of £14 that I paid.
To start; I have never really been a fan of the Soul Calibur series so I can't compare this to the older games. But I like it, it is fun and fast, and the character creation allows you to personalize your fighter.
Soul Calibur V is a great addition to the series in many ways, however, the single player in this game is a weak offering. With the story mode taking a mere hour or two. If you are after a solid singleplayer experience, this is will sadly not impress you. The online is where the game really shines, it is great to work on perfecting a character and unleashing abilities on your opposition and feeling satisfied. Fights are on the whole smooth and it feels great to play online as there are minimal stability issues, in my own experience at least. Graphically the game is extremely impressive, with excellent character models and lots of flashy colourful effects, accompanied by great stage backgrounds. The audio and soundtrack create an atmosphere that really heightens the feel of the battles, however I feel the dialogue is lacking and is somewhat flat compared to previous iterations of the series. Customisation of existing characters or creating completely new ones is also still present and the level of detail is brilliant. You can customise practically everything about your character. All in all the game is a solid one, it offers a great online experience that is not plagued by connectivity issues like many of this genre. The single player, sadly, leaves a lot to be desired.
This game has the best combat system for the whole series, and has some amazing custom creation options. It's really fun to play but it has some flaws like the forgettable and boring story mode, and really frustrating at higher difficulties, not to mention the ineffective training mode. On the other end the online is really amazing, and it has Ezio Auditore! A must have for fans!
