Disappointed
When Thief 1 and 2 came out they were one of the best games I have ever played. I played both of the games on highest difficulty and they were just challenging enough. So how is this new Thief compared to the old ones? I have played this game like 8 hours now and I have to say I am really disappointed. I began to play it on the master difficulty and the game is way too easy. There are shadows to hide every where so you don't really have to plan where stop to check your surroundings. Also the enemies don't react enough on your movement, sightings, ect. The new knockout system is just stupid (go behind the enemy and they are basically knocked out). The graphics are bad (at least on the xbox 360 version) and sounds are just ok. Also every action you take on the world seems to do some kind of animation. Search drawers -> animation, peak around the corner -> animation, pick up items -> yet another animation. So basically when checking one table with every drawer to pick item from (6 drawers), it will take you more than 10 seconds... only because of those stupid animations. Also Garrets new voice sounds something else than voice of the master thief. There are still some good things in this game. I like that there are animals in the worlds (dogs and birds) that react on you. I like the way they have handled platforming (just press action and your character jumps on other platform if it is possible). Also collecting special items and then displaying them on your hideout is nice. When I wrote this review I was going to give this game 3 stars. However when I started to clearly remember all the things there are wrong in it I decided to give it only 2. Bottom line on this game is that it could have been amazing (because it could) and now it just fails pretty much on every aspect. If you wan't good games with plenty of sneaking around I would recommend Hitman or Splinter cell. Both of which can be found very cheap here on zavvi
