Live by the sword - die by the sword
Didn't know much about this movie when I saw it listed on the Zavvi website. Nothing on the tv or at the cinema. Bought it because it had Morgan Freeman in it. Usually, when Mr Freeman is in a movie, then it's a good watch. This one, however, is a curiosity. A strange mixture of a japanese action movie and the magnificent seven with Clive Owen leading the knights of the title. When his master (Freeman) is framed for treason, Raiden (Owen) is disgraced and his men are disbanded. Cast adrift, the men seek menial jobs whilst Raiden returns to his old ways of drinking and gambling loosing his wife in the process. Or does he? This is a good action movie about honour and revenge in equal measures. Freeman is only in the movie a short time which was disappointing but Owen plays the dark hero well but sadly we've seen this type of movie before. The action sequences are well staged but for me, there was something missing and I can't put my finger on it.
