Excellent Set
I had read about this box set on Amazon and Ebay, on both sites, however, the asking prices were outside of my budget. I have not been able to find this particular box set any where else for such an affordable price! I am a collector and the "Aliens" franchise is one of my favorites of all time! So, when I learned about this particular box set, I knew I would welcome it into my collection very soon. The product itself is impressive, mostly because I after director Ridley Scott denied "Prometheus" being a prequel to "Alien" - but rather a spinoff - I assumed fans would never see the two together in a set such as this. To me, the box set is excellent, however, I do have a couple gripes with it but nothing major. With that being said, I will break down the set into Pros and Cons and if there are any other "Alien" enthusiasts that may be reading this, hopefully this will help you decide whether this set is worth the money. Pros: The cover art is spectacular, the whites, blacks, and many shades of blue give it a sort of dreamy and mysterious aesthetic. The box set is slim and easy to store on a shelf The box is wrapped tightly, but not so tight that it damages the box (this is more of a plus for a collector) Great box set for a new fan The "Alien" DVD includes the Director's Cut and the Theatrical version "Aliens" DVD seems to include the Director's Cut from the Special Edition version of the film "Prometheus" features 6 deleted and alternate scenes Cons: Box set is simply a box that houses thin DVD cases, not a digipak box set (this a minor negative for me) "Alien" DVD does not include many special features "Aliens" DVD does not include as many special features as other versions of the film. "Aliens" DVD does not include the theatrical version of the film (also a minor negative for me) "Prometheus" DVD does not include a commentary or any other special features besides the deleted and alternate scenes (also minor) "Alien 3" does not include the Director's Cut or many special features except an audio commentary "Alien: Resurrection" does not include the Director's Cut or any special features except an audio commentary (minor for me, I'm not a fan of this one) All DVDs are Region locked (this is a major negative for those who are in the States or anywhere outside Region B and are not collectors) Granted, the things I have listed in the Cons may be on the Blu-Ray version of this box set. I also realize that there are few people that actually care about the special features. With all that being said, this is a great box set for someone who is new to the "Alien" franchise. Now that there is an "Alien" box set that includes "Prometheus," there may be hope for a box set that includes "Blade Runner."
