Diane Cilento and Felix Aylmer star in this enchanting British comedy set against the backdrop of 1950s London.
A beautiful but naive angel (Diane Cilento) is sent down to Earth to help sort out the lives of ordinary Londoners. Her first port of call is - appropriately enough - The Angel, Islington, where she pawns her harp and fixes a greyhound race to raise money for her adventures. But who to help first?
There's old Mr Webman (Felix Aylmer), the kindly pawnbroker whose lonely life revolves around his treasured collection of music boxes. Or young Len, so lacking in self-confidence and desperately in love with Jenny. Jenny's dad, Police Sergeant Lane, could do with a bit of divine intervention in his life too, as could Len's mum and her venomous friends Mrs Trap the undertaker. Where does an angel start with so many people who need her?
Diane Cilento provides all the sheer enchantment and glamour needed to transform everyone's lives in one of her first big screen roles.
