Big-city surgeon Michael (ROBERT HAYS, Airplane!) is still mourning his wife, who passed away four years ago. At Christmas, he returns with his daughter, Jilly (ASHLEY GORRELL, Baywatch), to his home town where his father, Bob (JACK PALANCE, Oscar® winner for City Slickers), and the townsfolk want him to stay and run the local hospital. There's a problem, however. It's Sarah (Golden Globe winner ANN JILLIAN, The Ann Jillian Story), the local vet, town mayor - and Michael's ex-girlfriend. She thinks that Michael's far too high-powered to adjust to small-town life. But the wily old Bob has other ideas...

Julia Stonecypher (Newton-John) has recently lost both her husband and her job. She's a popular resident of a small country community, but the coming Christmas holidays already look pretty bleak for Julia and her two daughters. But then things begin to get worse! Brian Harding (Harrison), the vice-president of the local bank, turns up to inform Julia that her house is being repossessed and that she and her daughters will be homeless.
A car accident and the inclement weather, however, conspire to keep Brian in the Stonecyphers' lives - for longer than he would like! Fuelled by their enforced close proximity in the isolated house and the atmosphere of Christmas, an unlikely romance develops between Julia and Brian. But as the snowstorm passes and Brian is free to leave, will this new-found love continue into the New Year...and beyond?
