Let The Games Begin
Based on the series of novels written by author Suzanne Collins, the film series totals four films: The Hunger Games (2012), Catching Fire (2013), Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), and Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015).
The films are set in a dystopian future in which the nation of Panem has been divided into separate districts. Each year, the Capitol forces every district to select one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the Hunger Games, a deadly tournament that serves as a punishment following a failed rebellion led by District 13.
The first film, which released in 2012, follows two tributes selected for the 74th Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson).
Catching Fire (2013) follows Katniss and Peeta’s tour around the districts. It seems that there is a new rebellion simmering, one that she and Peeta may have sparked with their courageous performance in the 74th annual Hunger Games. In response, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) decides to force the previous victors to fight once more in the Quarter Quell.
In Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) and Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015), Katniss and her allies must liberate the citizens of a war-torn Panem while battling the Capitol in open rebellion.
