To coincide with the impending release of two official Doctor Who videogames that are destined to be a huge hit this Christmas (Doctor Who: Return To Earth for the Nintendo Wii and Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth for the Nintendo DS ) Blue Ocean Accessories have produced a small series of new products, the most impressive of which have been modelled very closely on the Doctor’s iconic Sonic Screwdriver device.
Set for release this winter, these two games will feature the likenesses of both current doctor Matt Smith and his sidekick Karen Gillan, and each of them will also feature a brand new story line that has been exclusively penned by the Doctor Who production team. Needless to say, both games are fully compatible with their format-specific Blue Ocean peripheral.
Easily the most striking-looking of the two devices is the Sonic Screwdriver Wii remote. Rather than being a clumsy plastic glove of some kind that wraps around the Wii remote, this device is actually a fully functional Wii remote straight out of the box. As you can see from the pictures, both the Wii and the DS version look impressively similar to the “real” thing.
These peripherals (which are a collaboration between BBC Worldwide and Blue Ocean) are currently due for release some time in October, and will also be available as one of six Doctor Who accessory packs, that are set to include extras like exclusive artwork and Nintendo DS slipcases.
