There’s some serious attitude to our releases this week with Sons of Anarchy 1 – 5, Red 2, Despicable Me 1 & 2, 47 Ronin, The World’s End, Kick-Ass, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Monsters University.
Sons of Anarchy 1 – 5
Sons of Anarchy has subtlety and nuance and is somewhat darkly comic. Arms dealing and violence are at the centre of this compelling tale of illegality and lawlessness. It’s also a tale of immorality, desperation and power which is played out by the main character Jackson Teller. Own series 1 – 5 on DVD and Blu-ray, Out Monday!
The ageing team is once again re-united and called into action to seek out and track down a nuclear device that is out there, the clock is ticking. Of course, in order to survive and succeed they’ll need to collaborate in order to navigate a myriad of unrelenting killers that are hell bent on their downfall, and trying to get there hand on the next gen uber-weapons.
Frank and his undercover menagerie have to rely upon all of their cunning and guile to save the world. Red 2 leads in a natural way from Red with an all-star stellar cast, Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Hellen Mirren to mention but a few.
Despicable Me 1 & 2
The Criminal mastermind known as Gru has now retired and enjoys not being at work anymore. So when he’s recruited, unbeknownst to him, by the Anti-Villain league to assist with a potentially lethal adversary and the recently discovered mastermind, he’s right at home without even realizing it. He’s of course supported by his minions and some new additions to the cast that are outright hilarious.
The World’s End
The legend of the pub crawl is immortalized in this film that acts like a sequel in so many ways to Pegg’s other films, Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, with a little bit of apocalyptic doom thrown in (commonly referred to as the cornetto trilogy). The town has been taken over by robots and the gang need to make it to the World’s End pub before they run out of steam, or sobriety. On arriving at the pub the Robot-Alien take over is revealed to be even more widespread than originally anticipated. The robot insurrection has been coming for years and they have largely been the reason for our technological advances in recent years. Do they join the robot invasion force or do they stand their ground and fight for humanity?
