Last Tuesday Ubisoft announced the latest in their series of historical action-adventure games, Assassin’s Creed Rogue. We are introduced to protagonist and antihero Shay Patrick Cormac, who has left the order of the Assassins. This desertion prompted the Assassins to make an attempt on his life. As a means to take revenge, Shay has joined the Templars to systematically hunt down those who betrayed him. Ubisoft have described it as “the darkest chapter in the franchise”. Check out the announcement trailer below.
The game will be set in the 18th Century – specifically during the Seven Years War and contain various north american locations including the frozen north, New York City and the Appalachian River Valley. This will complete the ‘North America’ saga that started with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.
Shay will apparently have access to never-seen-before weapons and a new ship, The Morrigan, hailing the return of naval play to the series. Shay will carry a deadly rifle able to use a variety of ammunition types in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, including explosive rounds, as well as being able to use it for close combat.
“We know that there are many Assassin’s Creed fans with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles who want to get their hands on a new Assassin’s Creed game this year,” says Martin Capel, Game Director, Ubisoft Sofia. Assassin’s Creed Rogue is being developed by Ubisoft Sofia, in collaboration with Ubisoft’s Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan and Bucharest studios, and will release exclusively on Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 11 globally (November 12 for France).
