It’s June, which means that lazing about in the sun with a drink and watching music on a weekend is a perfectly OK thing to do. When you’re talking 700 top rugby players battling it out for either the National 7’s or the new Rugby Rocks 7’s tournament, then all of a sudden it seems like an actively ideal use of a day.

And, so Rugby Rocks, which was sponsored by zavvi.com, went down a huge success for exactly those reasons. There was also the chance to grab some shade in the zavvi.com Gaming Zone tent, where we even let you game away for free on 8 gaming pods, not to mention free giveaways on the hour of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, UFC 2010 and 2010 FIFA World Cup. The look on the winners’ faces… Even if the 8 hours of sport across 4 pitches and a professional grandstand isn’t your thing, then a really well put together FEEDER performance in the evening should have been. Lead singer Grant Nicholas expressing how much he enjoyed being back live on stage after so long in the studio and few performances for some years. Top marks also go out to Tom Carty, the little known Australian singer winning crowds very quickly with his guitar bringing in the listeners who wanted a break from the oval ball. Did I mention The Parlotones, fresh from their World Cup opening gig, Alex Gardner or Nixa? Those who survived for the appropriately sing-a-long-dance-tune Just Jack DJ set were well rewarded after a hard day’s tan. Rugby Rocked for sure, and zavvi.com will be bringing more of its kind, just be ready to say yes.
