The Nintendo E3 Hero Collection Has Landed

In February we launched our Original Hero clothing range in collaboration with Nintendo, and you all loved it!

So to celebrate E3 2019, the biggest gaming event of the year, we decided to bring it back, but this time with a twist.

The special edition range entitled ‘E3 Hero’ is available for only 72 hours, and features some of your favourite designs from the original collection.

As designer Ian Hughes explains, while the Original Hero range was very monochromatic, this exclusive extension adds a splash of colour.

He told Zavvi:

With these variants we wanted to step away from the monochrome aesthetic, so we went crazy with colour, splashing it over the designs. We brought back the most popular designs and also one of the more underappreciated characters, giving him a new lease of life with a red design.

Like the original range, E3 Hero fuses together Super Mario style with Tokyo streetwear, a unique and unmistakable aesthetic.

It also goes back to the roots of Nintendo, returning to when the company was first founded in 1889, initially producing handmade hanafuda playing cards.

Ian explained why they took it back to the very start, but gave it a modern twist:

We wanted to do something different, so we introduced some of the style used for the cards and also a lot of framing, which is traditionally Japanese. The distorted wave pattern in the background and vertical text is also classic Japanese. There are also elements inspired from Tokyo streetwear, so narrow prints and sleeve prints, looking particularly at Kyoto, which is where the company was founded.

The colourful E3 Hero range really is a one-off, so if you want a piece of the action, make sure you grab one now!
