There are only a few adaptations of Stephen King novels worthy of the original books - and this is one of them! In the 37 years since its release, the film has lost none of its ability to shock and scare. With a tension that builds (and builds); the everyday cruelties of family and school life are ramped up with Carrie's supernatural, telekinetic abilities, coupled with the claustrophobic and controlling religious fervour of her mother. This is Stephen King at his best, combined with Brian de Palma at the top of his game, adding style and visual substance to an atmospheric and disturbing tale of one teenage girl pushed too far by the unrelenting cruelty of her peers. The Blu-Ray transfer adds color, vibrancy and depth, meaning that this is the best version of the film for home viewing ever released!
