A great improvement
Django never was chained. Just roped. Anyway... Previous digital encodings of this 1966 lesser known but highly influential spaghetti western were, bluntly, almost unwatchable. This encoding is a significant improvement, enough so to stop the poor picture quality ruining the enjoyment of the film. But I suspect that this is still an encoding of the same digital scan that produced earlier, unacceptable renderings. The mud scenes rebind the initial titles still show awful digital artefacts of a type that suggest that the actual scanning was done at no more than 10 bit. While this work for the average scene, at 10 bits, the mud is all the same colour and resulting in big blocks of identical pixels. Ugh. The rest of the film is now mostly fine, but don't expect what you would normally find in BluRay quality. It's hard to see why this scan of the movie couldn't be adequately distributed on a DVD. Yes, the image files are enormous. But most of that is digitised noise. So why have I given it as much as 4? Because the film itself is important and without this work few would have bothered to watch beyond the first 10 minutes. But please, isn't it possible to find the print of the movie and scan it properly at 16 bits at least. Then we might actually get something worthy.

Django - Remastered and Uncut is a great movie. It's absolutely classic and is the best western of all time!
