I WANT YOU TO WATCH THE MOVIE SCREEN. THERE’S SOMETHING I WANT TO SHOW YOU.

Fifteen years before Stranger Things combined science-fiction, Spielbergian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Richard Kelly set the template – and the high-water mark – with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium.

Donnie is a troubled high school student: in therapy, prone to sleepwalking and in possession of an imaginary friend, a six-foot rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world is going to end in 28 days, 06 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. During that time he will navigate teenage life, narrowly avoid death in the form of a falling jet engine, follow Frank’s maladjusted instructions and try to maintain the space-time continuum.

Described by its director as “The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick”, Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast – pre-stardom Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, heartthrob Patrick Swayze, former child star Drew Barrymore, Oscar nominees Mary McDonnell and Katharine Ross, and television favourite Noah Wyle – and an evocative soundtrack of 80s classics by Echo and the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran.

This brand-new 4K restoration, carried out exclusively for this release by Arrow Films, allows a modern classic to finally receive the home video treatment it deserves.

Amazing Limited 4k Collectors Version

When i saw this my jaw dropped. I've been a fan of Donnie Darko since it's release in the late, late 90's and when i finally stumbled upon this UHD-version of the movie i have loved for more than 20 years i bought it in a second. Zavvi has priced this movie very reasonably, considering what you get except for both the directors and theatrical cut of the movie so i'm really kinda baffled there are more in stock. Like i mentioned earlier, there's a limited amount of these copies from Arrow. When they are gone they're gone, so i would pick one up while there still are some copies for sale. Highly recommended!!! PS: unlike most UHD-releases, unfortunately this does not come with a regular blu ray as well. Strictly 4k.

Very enjoyable

To be honest I have heard that you either love or hate this movie but I really enjoyed it, watched this 4k release twice now and the second time round I understood it more because the first time its hard to understand what was going on and can be a little confusing if you don't concentrate on it, the 4k picture is outstanding as arrow really do take great care to make sure that their releases are something that people will really appreciate, a ton of extras with plenty to watch and learn about, thank you arrow for another fantastic release and can't wait to see what other titles will be coming in the future

Amazing

Great purchase classic movie cant go wrong

AWSOME buy

Absolutely great buy an absolute classic produced by drew Barrymore's film company excellent film one for every true collector to own extras well presented and great quality 🤗🤗🤗

The Quintessential Donnie Darko

For the 20th anniversary of its theatrical release, this is the ultimate Donnie Darko package. The poster is so detailed, I plan on framing it. Honestly, the book is almost better than the two movie versions. It’s coffee table-sized and perfect for guests.

Definitive Version

While the quality of the previous Arrow Blu Ray release was an excellent transfer of this movie, this 4K version manages to trump that with some excellent usage of HDR. The extra bits and bobs will please fans and I would argue if you are to have a version of this movie, this is the one to get.
