One of the best films of ant genre of past ten years

I love this film, from the retro soundtrack to the eighties soft cinematography feel, to the acting and the story itself. It's got all the hallmarks of a longstanding future cult film; it surely was also a reference point for Stranger Things, the cult Netflix TV series. The genius of this film is how the viewer is allowed to see things that the protagonists do not. You can almost imagine cinema goers shouting and getting uncomfortable as they spy "It" walking slowly out of focus through the crowd towards our heroes in a couple of scenes. Part of the sense of doom and that feeling of there's no one to rescue them is due to there being no adults in the film, it all revolves around the teenagers. David Robert Mitchell is certainly a director to watch and his earlier indie film, Myth of the American Sleepover is worth seeking out too.

Disappointing

After reading the description I was expecting a good story but I found it slow to watch and the end was a let down too, I've given it 2 stars as I've seen much worse films but I won't be watching this again

a creepy tale with an original story

I am a big horror movie fan, so I often think I have seen it all. Yet this movie has come up with something fresh and brings an original story to the table while still referencing many older horror genre movies. There is a sense of dread throughout the whole movie and the cinematography is outstanding. The video quality is also awesome as it features a crisp and clean picture throughout. The sound quality is also good. I remove one star for the lack of extensive extras, as it would have been nice to get some more of those... In any case this movie is recommended and at least my edition came with an alternate cover which looks awesome!
