Great addition to the Marvel super hero movie series.

Wolverine done right!
Based (very) loosely on the Old Man Logan story set in the future, we find Logan as a taxi driver, Professor Charles Xavier is a spent man who needs constant care, mutants have all but disappeared and the X -men exist only in paperback. Life is bleak, day to day, hand to mouth and isn't getting better. A chance encounter with a young girl in peril will change Logan's destiny forever. Wow! Just wow! This is easily the best of the standalone Wolverine films and gives the main X-Men franchise a darn good run for its money too. The whole tone of the movie is downbeat, Logan is a man struggling with alcoholism, a shadow of his former self, he's slowly but surely slowing down, even those trademark adamantium claws are beginning to seize up. There's not much purpose in life, Professor X is pretty much Logan's sole responsibility and he's deteriorating both mentally and physically. Indeed it isn't until the arrival of the aforementioned young girl (and the baggage she brings) that Logan receives both a tasking and purpose. This isn't a wham bam blockbuster with a massive CGI finale which sets it firmly apart from the other Wolverine movies and indeed the X-Men movies. Logan is played like an old gunslinger coming out of retirement to fight one last time, its bleak and all the better for it, you're invested in Logan and his task, you're willing him to keep going and at the climax you not only feel spent, but also emotional. This is Wolverine done right, one final time.
