Hulk

The Hulk is not your typical super-hero film... Having conducted several experiments on his son when he was younger, a mysterious scientist (Nick Nolte) now craves the chance to conclude those experiments by pushing his sons boundaries and unleashing the Hulk. Having been bombarded with Gamma rays during an accident, Bruce Banner (Eric Bana) is now capable of transforming into a huge creature possessing unlimited strength. Still not satisfied with the outcome of what he created, his Father still pursues his son so that he can unlock his secrets for his own gain. Also in pursuit of the Hulk is General 'Thunderbolt' Ross, whose daughter (Liv Tyler) is coming off the back of a relationship with Banner. He will stop at nothing to put an end to the Hulk. Ross wants him locked-up, his Father wants him unleashed and the Hulk wants neither. The three collide in the climax as they come head to head. The movie strives to explore and acknowledge motivations and actions rather than slamming endless action scenes in your face. The action beats that are present are well handled, and are quite well realised dealing mainly with the Hulk trying to evade his would be captors. The picture quality is actually really good; I was pleased with the colours and sharpness. The movie does look like a comic book come to life on Blu-ray. The Hulk itself does have a cartoon feel to him which is quite faithful to his comic book style. I felt the extras while enjoyable, but were not as expansive as a title such as the Hulk should offer. There could have been more on offer. I'm pleased with the purchase, the delivery time was great and the price was a real bargain. Overall, I'll rate the film as 4/5 and the disc as a package 4/5.
