Pioneers Of Pop Culture

Founded in 2004, Mondo is an American company that started out as a T-shirt manufacturer (‘Mondo Tees’) before shifting their focus to printing pop culture-inspired posters.

As a subsidiary of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain, Mondo holds a permanent gallery space where it can display custom-made posters and original artwork.

Due to their high profile, Mondo have gone on to collaborate with major studios such as Paramount Pictures, creating customised posters for various films: Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Pan’s Labyrinth, and Captain America: The First Avenger, and more – receiving positive feedback from critically acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro.

Many of these Mondo posters have been added to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ movie posters archive and the Heritage Auctions catalogue.

In spite of their poster-focused beginnings, Mondo and sister label Death Waltz have worked together to create various vinyl soundtrack releases, featuring custom art on the cover, interior, and even the records themselves.

Annually, an event is held in Austin called MondoCon. This is intended to showcase Mondo’s latest creations, including artwork, collectibles, and even special screenings with artists and filmmakers.
