Launched on 1 May 1949, and led for 25 years by Edgar Anstey - a founding father of the British documentary movement - it became one of the largest industrial film units in Britain.

BFI Railways for ever two
The film's in this collection remind me of my youth and how I couldn't wait to get on a steam train and now I can see them again anytime I want.
