Three films by French director Claude Chabrol. Marie Trintignant stars in the title role of 'Betty' (1992). When Betty is caught having an affair, her husband and his family force a divorce settlement upon her and stop her from seeing her two daughters. She is rescued from an alcoholic stupor by the friendship of an older woman, Laure (Stephane Audran), but this relationship comes under threat when Betty sets about seducing Laure's lover, Mario (Jean-Francois Garreaud). Jean Poiret stars in the murder mystery 'Inspector Lavardin' (1986), in which the inspector finds himself confronting his ex-lover while untangling the clues surrounding an unusual murder in a small seaside village. In the thriller 'Merci Pour le Chocolat' (2000), Jeanne (Anna Mouglailis) is a young pianist who discovers that she may have been the daughter of famous pianist Andre Polonski (Jacques Dutronc) following a clerical error at the maternity hospital. She seeks out Polonski and his wife Mika (Isabelle Huppert), who welcome her at first and she becomes her father's adoptive pupil. However, on entering the family Jeanne starts to uncover dark secrets about Mika's past.
